5 Questions with … Elisha Cuthbert of “One Big Happy”

OneBigHappy_Elisha_1Elisha Cuthbert stars in “One Big Happy,” a sitcom from executive producer Ellen DeGeneres and creator/executive producer Liz Feldman that premieres Tuesday on NBC. In the fresh comedy, Cuthbert plays Lizzy, an uptight lesbian who has decided to raise a child with her best friend Luke (Nick Zano). But when Luke marries Prudence (Kelly Brook), a sexy and free-spirited Brit, Lizzy’s carefully laid plans go awry and a new kind of family is born. Here Cuthbert answers our “5 Questions.”

1. You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?
W, Elle Decor and probably Vogue.

2. If your TV carried just three shows or networks, what would they be?
Of course One Big Happy, which is my own show. Which is gross to say, but whatever. Intervention — because I need a little darkness in my life — and Downton Abbey, because I need a little British in my life, too.

3. What are three things you have to have in your fridge or pantry?
I need to have water — I definitely need water — limes and a good beer. It’s all beverages! (Laughs) Do I eat? I’m on a liquid diet!

4. Tell us about a time when you were starstruck.
When I met Meryl Streep at the Golden Globes, I couldn’t speak. She had just won for Angels in America, and I was behind her because we had won best ensemble for 24 and we were waiting to do the backstage press. She turned around and I just garbled, “Arrgh, glah” and she smiled and said, “It’s okay.” I bet she gets that a lot.

5. What has been your strangest fan encounter?
I had a woman tell me that she postponed being induced because she didn’t want to miss an episode of 24. I told her she was insane.
