Jane the Virgin Chapter 15 Recap: Another Baby and a Wedding?

Having gone without Jane the Virgin for two weeks, Chapter Fifteen definitely made sure to pack in a lot of drama. The episode starts out with Rafael and Jane waiting to hear backjane-the-virgin-ep15-jane from the doctor about the baby’s health. Jane takes the initiative to call the office in order to hear the results of the amnio test, and is overwhelmed with happiness to hear that the baby’s in perfect condition. However, she tells Rafael that she’s still not willing to move in with him. She always had a plan on how her life would work out and clearly having a baby wasn’t the start. She wants to get married and live together eventually but not at the moment.I’m not sure Rafael understood what Jane meant by wanting to somewhat stick to her plan.

Jane’s favorite author, Angelique Harper, is staying at the hotel and immediately Jane starts to fan girl. I can’t lie — I would act the exact same way if I were meeting Gina Rodriguez! She starts to freak out even more once Rafael tells her that Angelique will be hosting a private reading session that Jane can attend. Jane starts to fantasize about Angelique loving her work and making Jane a newly discovered author. Jane goes home and switches into an alter ego, Juana, in order to write a romantic novel best fit for a telenovela.

Once Jane arrives at the reading, she’s beyond thrilled to hear that Angelique will be reading a preview from her new upcoming novel. Strangely enough, as Angelique starts to read the preview, it seems as though she’s talking about Jane. She mentions that the character’s name is Jane and describes the character as listening to a reading session, just as Jane was. At one point during the reading, Jane is told to stand up. Turns out, Angelique isn’t reading any of her work but rather talking directly to Jane on behalf of Rafael.

jane-the-virgin-ep15-proposalJane finally stands up and Rafael walks up from the back of the room, dropping down on one knee to propose. Clearly this is one of the best proposals ever, but Jane has to go and ruin it. She asks Rafael if they could talk in private. I guess that is a big fat no on the proposal.Apparently Rafael thought he was understanding Jane’s hints about getting married from their conversation about her life plan. Jane clears things up and tells Rafael that she wasn’t hinting at anything. Rafael feels like life is too short so they should get married right away. but Jane isn’t worried about time. She leaves Rafael without a definite answer, but tells him she’ll think about it. Poor Rafael. He just wants to prove to Jane that he’s the right one for her. She shouldn’t leave him hanging like that.

Surprisingly, Abuela agrees and thinks that Jane should marry Rafael. The one that doesn’t agree with the marriage is Xo because she feels that Rafael and Jane haven’t had enough time to get to know each other. Xo does have a point, but Rafael and Jane aren’t exactly under the normal circumstances.

Xo has a pregnancy scare and tells Rogelio that she might be pregnant. Everything is pointing towards her being pregnant, since Xo has missed taking her birth control pill a couple times and she’s late this month. Xo tells Rogelio about them possibly having another child and he tells her that it would be a blessing. In order to determining if he’s telling the truth or not, Xo traps Rogelio by lying to him. She proceeds to tell him that she was joking about being pregnant which makes Rogelio come out and say in all honesty, it would have been a disaster. The two end up getting into an argument, saying they’d be fine if the other left.

Jane finally reaches a decision on Rafael’s proposal. She tells Rafael that she’s not able to marry him yet. She was scared to admit her true jane-the-virgin-ep15-rafael-janefeelings and turn him down because she was afraid it would change something in their relationship. Of course something like turning down a beautiful proposal would change some things in a relationship, Jane. She does tell Rafael that she eventually does want to marry him, but she’s just not at that point in her life yet. Jane feels like everything is moving too fast, while Rafael feels like things need to be sped up. Lucky for Jane, Rafael is a great guy and understands her feelings. He doesn’t get upset with her decision and confirms that nothing in their relationship will change.

Are you sure you don’t want to just have a long engagement, Jane? Rafael seems like the perfect guy for you.

Xo finds out that she’s really not pregnant and I think everyone is a bit relieved. Xo does admit that she might have not taken her birth control on purpose since she felt like her role as Jane’s mother has begun to change. She feels like Jane isn’t her little girl anymore, now that Jane is about to have a baby of her own. Xo wants to feel like a mother again since everything has been changing so quickly, but Jane reassures her mother that none of what she is thinking is true. Jane will always need her mother no matter how old she gets. She also offers some advice for Xo to move on in her life and not continue to stay living with her own mother. It may be nice to have your daughter grow up with her grandmother in the house but as time goes on people need to move on. Of course Xo thinks the next step is for her and Rogelio to move in together. Somehow, Rogelio agrees with Xo and it looks like the two will be living together soon. This should be interesting!

Right as the episode is about to end, Petra shows a kinder side of herself that we rarely get to see. She pays Roman’s twin brother Aaron a visit to give something back to him that belonged to his mother. Aaron had asked Petra if she knew about a necklace that belonged to his mother and somehow she had it, thanks to Roman gifting her with it. Aaron takes the pendant necklace and instead of keeping it in a safe spot to cherish for years to come he shatters it into pieces. Turns out there was a small USB inside the pendant of the necklace. Petra obviously didn’t know about the hidden secret; otherwise she would have never handed it over. What will Aaron do with this very valuable information now?

What were your thoughts on Chapter Fifteen of Jane the Virgin? Did you like Rafael’s proposal? I think I would’ve just said yes since it was the sweetest proposal ever and the fact that there were over one hundred people watching. I bet Rafael felt like a fool when Jane answered him with that question. You don’t answer a question with a question Jane, just say yes! Do you think it was okay for Jane to string Rafael along without an answer? Do you think Rogelio and Xo will last living together? I think a silly argument will force one of them out of the house within a short period of time. What do you think Aaron plans on doing with that USB? What do you think is on there that is so important?
