Shameless Season 5, Episode 6: “Crazy Love” recap

So last week was a little insane, heartbreaking and chaotic. Here’s what happens this week on Shameless Season 5, Episode 6: “Crazy Love”

Sammi telling Frank no more freebies

Frank and Sammi: Clearly in pain from abusing his new liver, Frank is hunting down his monthly check at the Gallagher house. Trying to get in, he comes across pitbull Sammi, who has taken upon herself to be in charge around the house now. She tells him it’s the gutter he crawled out of or the couch, also no money, no food. There is now a house curfew of doors being locked at 10pm, which promptly throws Debs and Carl into a rage. Sammi is not budging on this! Debs in turn mentions she needs to run out and get school supplies for her first day of high school, and Sammi gives her unsolicited advice on how to handle school. Offering some money for school supplies, Debs turns her down, and Carl says he will just steal from the weaker kids and she asks for him to steal for Chuckie too. Now proving tough love to Frank, she refuses to help him, remembering to take his anti-rejection meds which in turn sends a barely functioning Frank to the ER. Thank goodness the only thing found in his system was everything but booze. He also gets ridiculed by the doctor that he is a grown man and is competent enough to take care of himself.

Fiona: Right away POW starts punching Jimmy, rightfully, so but he tries to explain to her about he was kidnapped, forced into slave labor and a bunch of other stuff. Meanwhile, in the midst of explanation, Mickey calls her to tell her what happened with Ian and she bolts. Later on he comes to the house and everyone is there, so in the chaos everyone is like, “where have you been?” Lipp spills she is married and all sorts of questions come spewing out of everyone. She then takes him outside and starts explaining all of her past events to him. He confesses he still loves her, over and over and over again, and she finally gives in to him. Obviously the sparks are still there. So the next morning with Jimmy still upstairs, Gus shows up and there is now a very conflicted Fiona. After Gus leaves she goes upstairs to kick Jimmy out and heads over to V’s to confess here eff-up. V in turn tells her about how her and Kev are separated because he only cares for the babies these days. So she skips telling her about her situation. Jimmy’s partner comes back to the diner to find out what her intentions are and she is quite unsure. Jimmy in turn goes back to the house later to talk to her and apologizes endlessly for how sorry he is and how much he loves her. Fiona, giving in to him again, freaks out and begs him to stop and is an emotional mess and also begs him to leave. She eventually goes to be with her husband Gus. While, um, Gus proves his love to her she is crying and is an emotional mess about the whole situation. I’m pretty sure I would be too!

Episode 506Ian and Mickey: Now in full manic mode he is just driving down the road rambling on about how they are headed to Florida, and how life is going to be great. His phone constantly is ringing he constantly is ignoring them. Svetlana keeps threatening to call the cops and Mickey is adamant against it. She goes into labor with the surrogate baby and says if her baby is not back by the time she gets home she is calling the cops on carrot boy. Ian, still on the road with a screaming baby, has no food or diapers. He is trying to improvise the best his mind can let him. After a stop at the gas station, and graciously accepting help from strangers, he then goes to “make” some money. He leaves the baby locked in the car, and a concerned citizen calls the police to get the baby, which of course causes a scene when Ian returns. They in turn haul him into the station and call the family. Upon the family’s arrival a very emotional Mickey convinces Ian that he needs to check himself into a psych ward.

Lipp: Back in the dorms playing RA, dealing with parents telling him what meds their kids need and way too anxious college freshman ready to start partying, he gets the call about Ian. Meanwhile, girlfriend Amanda is painting pretty murals in his room and applying for more credit cards. Very random scene, I’m sure it will come into play someday.

Carl and Debs: On the first day of school she is already known as “deadly Debbie” and is immediately confronted to fight, cutie crush Derek comes in to save the day. Carl is STILL trying to find his way in the dealing drugs game.
