New on Sprout: “Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave,” Interactive Fun for Preschoolers

Sprout has a new treat for your little Valentine with its newest original series for preschoolers, Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave. The series premieres Feb. 14, and chronicles the animated adventures of three lovable best friends: Ruff-Ruff a lovable, instinctive pup, Tweet, a cautious, thoughtful bird, and Dave, an imaginative, quirky panda.

RRTD-1In each episode, as the trio takes a spin in their spin-again magic top, and they are led on their adventures by Hatty the Hamster, a curious guide/ringleader who joins the fun, “with a song in my heart and a hat full of questions!” Whenever the trio encounters a problem or is asked a question by Hattie, the solution is always “Ruff-Ruff,” “Tweet” or “Dave.” Children and their families engage with the program by deciding which of the characters offers the correct answer/solution.

Meet Ruff-Ruff!

The experience is further enriched with a companion app available on iOS and Android. Now kids can play along directly with the show; it’s a perfect option for curious kids who want further interaction with their preschool pals. The app’s technology recognizes show sounds and seamlessly syncs to the content whenever the show is playing. “It’s very cool,” said Sandy Wax, president of Sprout, during the network’s panel during Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. “It’s something that hasn’t really been done in preschool before.” The app also features special games and activities that unlock the more kids play with the app and answer the embedded questions correctly.

Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave begins on Sprout on February 14 at 11am with two back-to-back episodes during The Sunny Side Up Show, and will air seven days a week with one episode daily at 11am followed by a second episode nightly at 7pm during The Good Night Show.

To celebrate Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave’s new adventures at Sprout, the network is hosting a “Pick and Play Sweepstakes” from Friday, February 20th through March 27th. Each Friday, viewers are encouraged to watch new Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave episodes at 11am and then adults can visit the contest website to answer a question from the show. Winners will be awarded with a variety of prizes each week from sponsors like zulily, Loews Hotels & Resorts, Shutterfly, Plae and more. One grand prize winner will be granted a four-day/three-night family vacation to a Beaches Resorts property in Jamaica or Turks & Caicos.

  8. Are there any toys out for the new show on spout? Ruff Ruff,Tweet, and Dave. Grama g. Thanks

    • Hi Grama G,
I just checked with the folks at Sprout, and they said that they’re always looking to expand their brands, so toys are definitely a possibility in the future for Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave. For now, there isn’t anything available, but in the future, there may be. That doesn’t help you though, because I bet you’ve got a little Sproutlet in mind who would adore a cute buddy (who wouldn’t love a plush Tweet?!?) from a favorite new show. Maybe you can get creative with one of the coloring pages from the show and use an iron-on transfer to make a cute t-shirt or pillow? And if you’re not crafty, I bet you can find someone on Etsy who would be happy to make you the perfect gift. (I also had a Caillou shirt made for my son a few years ago by Ty’s Toy Box at a time when finding Caillou stuff was impossible. They license images from Sprout and other companies and while they don’t have any Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave stuff yet, they may be able to get it for you.)
I will make sure to let you know if I find anything!
      Best,
      Kellie
