WorldDogAwards3Thursday, the CW is paying tribute to some of our favorite four-legged friends with the first ever World Dog Awards. The two-hour special will give pooches the Hollywood treatment as pups rub noses with celebrities (and dog lovers) Ian Somerhalder, Andy Cohen, Lisa Vanderpump, Paris Hilton and more.

George Lopes will host the tail-wagging fun and celebs and pooches will present and receive awards in categories including Best in Film, Top TV Dog, Supporting Actor to a Dog and Dog of the Year.

I have always been a dog lover and I am mesmerized by animals in entertainment. If there is a pooch on screen, my eyes are on his sweet puppy face. Who can forget the scene-stealing abilities of Toto from The Wizard of Oz, Verdell from As Good as it Gets, Eddie from Frasier, Comet from Full House and Uggie from The Artist. And who didn’t fall in love with the story of Hank, the pup who went from stray to star as the Milwaukee Brewers’ mascot? And let’s not forget Jiff the Pomeranian; who might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

The CW’s 2014-2015 premieres have fared well this season, with success for new series Jane the Virgin, The Flash and iZombie, and the youth-centric network has announced only one new series for its fall slate of programming.
