Leslie Moonves, president and CEO of the CBS Corporation, said in a release, “David Letterman has given to all of us a remarkable legacy of achievement and creative brilliance that will never be forgotten. It’s going to be tough to say goodbye, but I know we will all cherish the shows leading up to Dave’s final broadcast in May.”

Letterman is the longest-tenured late-night talk show host at over 32 years. He announced his retirement in April, and he will be replaced as Late Show host with Stephen Colbert, who ends his run on Comedy Central Dec. 18 (no word yet on when Colbert will start his new gig).
