YULE LOG ON TV 2014: YULE LOG ON DEMAND

(Description from iN DEMAND)

The televised Yule Log on digital cable is back this year in SD, HD and once again in 3D via free Video On Demand (VOD) and online. Along with the virtual fireplace are the snowy Winter Green and Snowman. And for those who celebrate Hanukkah, a new element has been added. For the first time, a flickering Menorah accompanied by traditional music, lights up starting Dec. 16, the first day of the eight day Festival of Lights. As per tradition, with each night another candle will be added.

No fireplace is needed to enjoy the holiday atmosphere, since any TV can be transformed into a crackling hearth or winter window. These free video confections are available via VOD with just a click of a button for digital cable subscribers on Xfinity, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Metrocast, Bresnan and RCN. The Menorah is available on many of these systems via On Demand (in SD and HD) and to everyone online. (See list below of exact locations on system lineups.)

For the digital version, viewers can light up any of the holiday videos on any computer or mobile device simply by clicking on: rentmoviesondemand/holiday, (All online assets are available until Jan 5, 2015). And while the virtual hearth is burning, they can also browse through the hottest movies available instantly via cable’s Movies On Demand (MOD).

In addition to the familiar Yule Log and the new Menorah, program distributor iN DEMAND also provides Winter Green, a snowy, pine forest setting and Snowman, dressed in top hat, scarf and neckerchief withstanding a windy, snowstorm. Winter Green, Snowman and Menorah are not in 3D.

All four offerings will help viewers get into the holiday spirit, accompanied by traditional carols like “Joy to the World,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

iN DEMAND first produced the high definition version starting in 2002 for its then linear channel INHD, and then premiered it on Video On Demand starting in 2007. The 3D version, which started in 2010, is originally produced exclusively for cable by iN DEMAND using the latest 3D technology. To see the 3D version, viewers need a 3D TV with compatible 3D glasses and an HD set-top box connected according to their system’s specs.
