When is It’s a Wonderful Life on TV 2014?

You might recall the days of being able to watch It’s a Wonderful Life on TV a LOT. The 1946 Frank Capra classic was in the public domain at that time, about 20 or 30 years ago, and it seemed to air nearly nonstop in syndication between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

its-a-wonderful-lifeFor the past several years, rights to It’s a Wonderful Life have belonged to NBC, so airings of the film have become more of a special viewing occasion, with the network usually airing it twice during the Christmas season. And they are doing so again in 2014, with a few more showings also added to sister channel USA Network:

NBC: Saturday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 24, 8pm ET/PT

USA Network: Sunday, Dec. 14 at 8pm; Monday, Dec. 15 at 6am; Saturday, Dec. 20 at 5pm and 1:01am; and Monday, Dec. 29 at 9am ET/PT
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE — (FROM NBC) NBC again presents this exclusive and special telecast of Frank Capra’s 1946 holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” starring James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. The film follows the life of George Bailey (Stewart) from childhood to maturity in the town of Bedford Falls. On what might be his last Christmas Eve, a discouraged Bailey wants to throw his life away. Fortunately, Clarence (Henry Travers), a second-class angel, is sent to show him the value of life. After Clarence gives Bailey a view of Bedford Falls without him, Bailey realizes how precious his life is and gets a second chance. He comes to learn that Clarence was right when he said, “No man is a failure who has friends.” The film, which earned Oscar nominations for best picture, director, actor and film editing, was produced and directed by Capra.

  1. I think Mr Heinikel is a very smart man!! There’s nothing better than going to a friends house to visit.. And they’re watching it 🙂 it really deals like the holidays then

  2. I don’t have cable is
“A Wonderful Life” showing on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX OR ME tv on Christmas Day or before January 1?

  3. Why do you cut off your nose to spite your face. Gee……bring the family closer during the holiday? What a concept! Want to be the guardian’s of good taste and traditional family values? Play this movie. Most of the rest of your holiday line up is drivel. Separate yourself from the rest of those idiots (cbs, abc). Step up NBC.

  4. Dear NBC Azzholes,
Every year I will remind NBC that it is a bunch of szcummbags for taking It’s a Wonderful Life out of public domain, and running it only a few times. You suck szhit through a straw for Christmas. Greedy phucks. You try to make yourselves seem like do-gooders when all you do is rob people of the opportunity to drop in on this movie at any given moment — and you also take away ad revenue from other stations, which is the ONLY REASON you pieces of zshit did it. So you may think you have America fooled, you poop stains, but you do not. So, F.U. for Christmas until you release this movie back into the public domain.

  5. Why do you not show this movie classic more often instead of the trash that is on tv at Christmas time?

    • This is the only movie I. Look forward 2 at christmas time other than the christmas story. Why don’t U show it more often????????
