7 Questions With Tim Meadows of NBC’s “Marry Me”

7 Questions With Tim Meadows

7 Questions With Tim MeadowsHe probably first captured your heart as Saturday Night Live’s Ladies’ Man Leon Phelps, but versatile actor and comedian Tim Meadows plays a dear old dad in NBC’s new relationship comedy Marry Me (premiering Oct. 14), though he’s not exactly Ward Cleaver. Meadows plays Kevin, whose partner is … Kevin (Dan Bucatinsky). The Kevins are Annie’s (Casey Wilson) two dads. (Watch the show. It will make sense.) We lit some scented candles and sipped some Courvoisier with Meadows while he answered our “7 Questions”…

1) What has been your strangest fan encounter?
I don’t know if this is a fan. I was at a party one time, and somebody came up to me and said in my ear, ‘Yeaah, what happenin’?’ And I turned around and it was Leonardo DiCaprio. So that was pretty fun.

2) Tell us about a time when you were starstruck.
I’ve met Bill Murray on several occasions, and I’ve worked with his brother and I’ve known him for more than 20 years. But whenever I’m around Bill Murray, I can’t be myself. I’m such a big fan, and I can’t even tell him that. And he’s so nice to me, also.

3) If your TV carried just three shows or networks, what would they be?
Doctor Who, because there would be thousands of episodes to watch. The original Batman with Adam West. And I would say Breaking Bad.

4) You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?
The New Yorker, GQ and Sports Illustrated.

5) What are three things you have to have in your fridge or pantry?
Peanut butter, Tabasco sauce and usually milk or water.

6) What’s a movie you can watch over and over again?
Star Wars, the very first one. I’m actually going home to watch it tonight. I was thinking I haven’t watched Star Wars in a long time. The first one, I’ve watched a million times. The other one is Face/Off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. I’ve seen it a million times so I know what’s going to happen, but there are always scenes and things to look forward to in that movie.

7) What is your favorite sports team?
The Detroit Pistons, and that’s it.
