Dance Moms finale recap: Chloe’s Final Finale?

dance-moms-finale-christi-chloe-leave

Tragedy has struck Dance Moms Nation! We’ve finally made it to Nationals. Everything else led to this episode. But what are we left with now? No longer will adult women appear on our screens to yell at each other about children dancing. No insanely pretty young girls will floor us with their endless talent and amazingly thick skins. Tuesday nights will become meaningless … just another long, boring night of the week with work the next morning!

… I may be getting ahead of myself. After all, there’s still the inevitable reunion special next week. And probably at least one Christmas special, right? And the Easter special. And probably a St. Patrick’s Day show or two. I mean, Abby and the Pitt Crew will never leave us, right? Er, right?

Before anybody freaks out (some more), let’s take a moment to appreciate our crazy season so far. We’ve had interlopers in every corner, a villainous “Select Team” trying to undermine our Crew every step of the way. Maddie did a music video and Abby won’t let anyone forget it. Cathy threw her rocker out a bus window on the way to a competition somewhere and left behind every last shred of sanity she may have once possessed. Christ-Y preached us the good, nutz-o Word of Her Opinions, and Christ-I preached the truth about Abby. Nia killed it in competition and Abby gave Nationals solos to absolutely anybody else anyway. Holly stopped trying to be the “nice” one and Melissa is getting ready to throw a chair at somebody. With all that, we knew this week would be explosive so let’s have a look at how it all turned out…

Even though there is no pyramid since it’s the middle of the week, Abby took the time out of rehearsal to line the girls up and tell them they aren’t working hard enough. With her “new L.A. studio” looming, everyone is feeling pressure to perform better than usual — especially the Select Team. They may never have stood a real chance of joining the team in Pittsburgh, but they might be able to secure themselves spots in a brand new studio. Abby, however, is not impressed with anyone’s performances so far and threatens to pull one of the selected soloists (Chloe, Kendall, and Kamryn) and put Maddie in instead.

Group rehearsals start with a fury. Abby is shrieking at everyone and all the dances are sloppy messes. The moms are mad at Abby because she hasn’t given the teams her full attention since she’s been out studio hunting … and they’re also very mad at Melissa. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. Even though she spoke up in the arbitrary lineup at the beginning of the episode, saying she thought it was good to give some other team members a chance, Melissa still refuses to pull Maddie from the competition. The rest of the Pitt Crew corners her outside the rented studio and make her so angry that Abby’s most reliable butt kisser actual confronts her and starts swearing up a storm.

After group rehearsal, the girls begin work on their solos and it’s clear who Abby favors. Kendall is sweet, but at best she’s going to become the next Chloe (always second to Maddie, constant verbal punching bag, take your pick of indignities) … and the actual Chloe doesn’t stand a chance as long as Abby hates her mom. After an altercation with Christi, Abs returns to rehearsing Kamryn and insists that if the older, taller girl doesn’t win, she’s off the team. Chloe rehearses with Abby but her choreography is sub-par and she just looks tired and beat down. Christi attempts to encourage her, but Chloe makes it clear that she knows Abby doesn’t want her to win and it’s taking its toll.

The next day, both teams head to their final competition. Unfortunately, Cathy got there first. Instead of the cheering crowds that usually appear to welcome the girls into the competition space, they are greeted by a silent crowd holding apples high in the air. It may be a pointless gimmick, but it’s still annoying to think that people would even pretend to support the Apples at this point in the series.

And of course the shenanigans aren’t done there. Cathy’s entire final routine is one big joke and the ALDC catches on quickly. Cathy hired herself a So You Think You Can Dance alum to choreograph a group routine to Chandelier, which was the hit Sia song whose music video made Maddie more famous than Dance Moms. Abby is furious but no amount of screaming matches in competition dressing rooms is going to change the number, and Abby has to find a new way to get her revenge.

Abby wants to put Maddie in the competition, now using her Chandelier routine just to stick it to Cathy (conveniently forgetting that they don’t have the rights to the song and that it’s not Abby’s choreography). Maddie, however, decides she doesn’t want to dance if it means one of her friends has to get pulled from competition. Abby may think that’s immature but I’m pretty sure I speak for the entire Dance Moms Nation when I say: You go, Maddie!

Solos compete first. Kendall does a barely memorable jazz routine. She looks nice but it’s definitely not on par with some of her earlier choreography and no amount of cutaways of Abby looking happy will convince me she performed it better than Applause. Chloe performs her solo next. Again, the routine is very lackluster for a nationals routine but she’s definitely gotten more expressive from yesterday to today. She looks beautiful and performs the inferior choreography very cleanly. The pressure is on Kamryn to beat Chloe if she wants to stay in Abby’s good graces.

From the get-go, it’s obvious that this routine is better than Kendall’s or Chloe’s (and not just in a Christi-is-oversensitive way). The choreography is intricate and very detailed. Kamryn looks just gorgeous doing it and she is as impressive a performer as she is a dancer. Unfortunately, three days proves not to have been enough time for her to learn such a difficult number. She slips while running backwards downstage and takes an impressive tumble. She goes literally head over heels and then… we cut to commercial before we can see what happens next.

Of course, this all would have been a lot more shocking if they hadn’t been showing clips of the fall in every “Coming Up…” since last week’s preview…

Fortunately, Kamryn covers her fall and bounces back up quickly. Backstage, though, the panicked girl starts crying and Abby comes back to … give her a hug? The world’s most terrifying teacher hugs the Select Dancer and says the fall was “okay” and that she did really well and that she made Abby proud.

Seriously? I’m never in favor of Abby screaming at upset children but “no crying” is the biggest rule after “everybody’s replaceable”! Never, ever has falling (at Nationals, no less) warranted anything but a talking-to. And the moms definitely notice this treatment.

From somewhere nobody cares about, one of the Candy Moms walks past the dressing room while the girls are warming up. She’s wearing a horrible dress and playing Chandelier on her phone. All of the mom’s and Abby stand in shock at this blatant disrespect and Maddie takes it upon herself to drop into her choreography as soon as she picks up the beat. She finishes her number flawlessly and the Candy Mom-minion walks away, defeated like a video game mini-boss.

For the second time this episode: You go, Maddie!

Group numbers are, of course, next, and we finally get to see the product of Cathy’s weeks of bragging.

It’s a little underwhelming.

The poor kids are in ridiculous costumes. Like, a ’90s kid’s idea of what bad ’70s disco outfits look like. The choreography is good but not exactly mind-blowing and hardly even approaches “cutting edge.” Her kids are talented, but lack the drive of Abby’s hand-selected team from legions of child-star wannabes … and basically what I’m saying is that I’m disappointed and I don’t even know why I’m surprised. If Cathy is made of anything other than vitriol, it’s hot air.

The Select team is just gorgeous. Abby explained last week that the routine was designed specifically to cater to their great lines and technique (again, none of which was developed by her…) and it does its job. The girls are tall and elegant and the routine is near flawless.

dance-moms-finale-select-team

Remember how Abby conveniently found an excuse to yell at Sara and kick her off the Select team? I can’t imagine it had anything to do with the fact that she’s five inches shorter than everyone else on it and not nearly as experienced. It’s almost like the girls who trained outside of the ALDC are better dancers. How weird!

The Pitt Crew number is not to be shamed, however. Although the choreography is not nearly as mature, the girls handle the subject matter well, as always, and can pull points for tugging heartstrings. Mackenzie, as always, rocks her role as a murdered/abducted/sickly/kidnapped kid and Maddie as the tragic pseudo-mother figure.

The girls are appropriately creepy and the routine definitely delivers some goosebumps. Which means it’s all up to the judges now.

Solo awards are a pretty lackluster affair. Kendall only places ninth, but with that choreography, who can blame her? Chloe and Kamryn tie for fifth with the title going to the dancer with the highest technique score. Recall in days past when Maddie beat Chloe the same way? Abby ripped on her for that. I was preparing for horrible flashbacks when the order was announced. Kamryn in sixth and Chloe in fifth. If you’re keeping score (and you should be), Chloe has now beat Kamryn three times out of three. Boom, baby!

Group results are a little more tense. The Sour Apples only get fifth for all their bluster. Maybe they should have spent less time prepping dumb gimmicks and more time practicing? With that out of the way, we finally come to the culmination of this whole season. Who will win in the end — the Select Team or the Junior Elites?

Our Pitt Crew girls pull through. The Select team takes a close second, though, and the moms revel in their superiority for a little while longer. Of course, that’s not good enough for Abby.

Backstage, and before the girls return, Abby insists that Kamryn should have beat Chloe and Christi is livid. No matter how many times she wins, Chloe will never prove anything to Abby. As the girls file in, Chloe enters crying and announces that she heard everything Abby said.

dance-moms-season-4-finale-chloe

While Christi gather their things, Abby gives the Select Team a final boot out the door. The Select moms may be pissed, but, as Abby points out, their dancers have served their only purpose, which was to push the ALDC girls into the next level of competition. Well, the Crew has stepped up and the Select Team is no longer necessary. Let’s have a moment of joyous silence for the show’s worst gimmick yet.

The last thirty seconds are a heart-wrenching dedication to Christi and Chloe leaving without the team. Chloe says she still wants to dance, but she can’t do that under Abby any more. As the camera lingers on the mom and daughter leaving Nationals, Chloe cries as she says that the best part of dancing with ALDC is her team and knowing that she always had friend who knew exactly what she was going through after every rehearsal.

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

And that’s it, Ladies and Gentlemen. The end of the season. This is your last chance to vent about a regular episode for a while, so make sure you get it all out. Are Christi and Chloe really gone for good? Who’s watching next season, even if it means a move to L.A.? Who’s had all they can take? What kind of hell awaits us at next week’s reunion special? Let’s talk about it in the comments section below.

The Dance Moms Season 4 reunion special airs Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 9/8CT on Lifetime.

  1. Miss Abby, I totally get why you do some of the things that you do. it’s all about motivating, drive and dedication. I think that both Christi and Kelly are so vain that they could not stand the fact that their children needed a few corrections. Although I don’t always agree with everything that you say and do. I do feel as if they screamed victim which in return cause you push harder to prove your point. The combination poisons those three children inner spirit. page I don’t think she’s so much cared about all the drama I think she just wanted to dance and have fun, Brooke I think was just over at all she is good at what she does but she’s just like nah. Chloe on the other hand, it was a great loss to you, I feel she truly love’s you, your mom and Broadwood baby. She can’t help that her mom was so vain. Her spirit has been ripped from her by you, because of her mother. Please Abby make it up to her. In the military they tear them down to only bring them back up. You and you only have the power to put that spirit back in that little girl. She’s not washed up, her dancing has been birthed by you, you are a mother figure to Chloe. Please don’t leave it this way. I see what is hidding inside you, I know you’re not all mean and nasty, let see a lot of hurt. Please show the world what’s really in Abby Lee Miller. bring the Chloe but we all know and love back

  2. Kindle, don’t lose the fire. I hope that your mom learns from Melissa. I would hate to see the inner you be poison by jealousy and sixth-grade grade mentality. you have the passion I hope your mom arrange the time and you continue to pursue dedication. so what if you stand second at this point. It does not mean that you can not be first at some point.Use Maddie as an inspiration and not an enemy. The two of you are good souls. I believe your mom started out caddy and then smartened up.. Abby sees talent, please always keep that in mind when she’s yelling at you. She only wants to see it be better. She want to see the passion and the drive and of course don’t forget the technique. Just like all the other girls you are a beautiful person and a beautiful dancer keep going.

  3. Melissa do not lisen to anything that the other mothers have to say. You do for your girls what they need to do. I think you made the right decision leaving it up to Maddie and I think that maddi made the right decision to say no to the 2014 national solo. I’m sorry everyone wants to dig into your personal situation. So many people like to judge and a lot of them would call themselves Christians. I believe that the reason Maddie has every opportunity that she can with Abby is because you have went out of your way to arrange the time for Maddie to give the dedication. you don’t fight and argue with a Abby and dancing is truly Maddie’s passion. .. The combination is a win-win

  4. Nia, you’ll get there girl, don’t let no solo at 2014 Nationals get you down. your acting skills are phenomenal. You have a very good mother, most the time she knows when to stand up and when to back down. She does not stir the pot to offten. I was a bit disappointed about the board that she brought out. I don’t agree with a lot of things in that miss abby does or says, but I understand why she doesn’t it. she wants hard work and dedication and you can see in your dancing hey you have been doing a good job at the hard work. I understand when the mom say but you have to have a life other than dance the Miss abby is saying she wants your whole life to be dance, that’s where the dedication come in. What do you want? I watched you on the hip hop thing, I hope you spring into that. Ask miss Abby some direction on that. You could very well be her star at hip hop. It will set you apart from the other girls. I love your attitude. you have a strong future keep working. you’re a beautiful person.

  5. miss Chloe you have everything it takes to become a professional dancer for the rest of your life. I don’t believe
miss Abby hate’s you. I believe what started out as trying to put a little fear into you has turned into a bitter war between your mother and her. I feel as if your mother and miss Abby went too far. although I don’t agree with a lot of things that Miss Abby says or does, I do understand what she’s trying to do. It goes back several seasons, I would have to say at your mom and Kelly’s behavior and back lashing
was the begining… at first I didn’t see a whole lot of difference
In the way miss anny treated you she maintained constant behavior, notthing good behavior lol, but consists.I think your mom just kept yelling victim and I think the stress between them two just took away something you had inside of you. I am sorry to have witnessed. You are a beautiful dancer, and an even more beautiful person. I hope to see you have your own show here soon. It’s up too you.. Please still love Abby, I know she loves you… She wants to see you dance even after you have fallen.. Please look past the nasty behavior and shine girl.. You have everything it takes…

  6. At this point I’m only watching the show because it’s a master-class into how to jump the shark. I don’t know if it’s because Abby’s ego is out of control or Collins St. doesn’t know what it’s doing, but they have drifted away from its original premise with their faked rivalries, drive-by dance teams, fake plot twists and lack of focus.

What made the show compelling in the beginning was its intimacy. Whether your kids played sports, danced, acted, or were musicians, (or you did any of those activities yourself) we all appreciated that part were you had to compete with your best friends for playing time or the best roles/solos, then–win or lose–had to come back together with them as a team to succeed in your endeavor. That’s what made Maddie vs. Chloe so compelling in the first season. That’s what made Kendall trying to earn her spurs on the Team in Season Two interesting. And there were all other little dramas, like would Brooke stay committed to dance? Paige and McKenzie both being in the shadow of their sisters.

This sort of granular storytelling was something we could all identify with and it drew us in and made the show unique.

This show has just degenerated into “Real Wives of Pittsburgh.”

  7. In the earlier seasons I enjoyed the back and forth competition between Chloe and Maddie, I felt that although genuinely friendly in nature, each benefitted as it helped them enhance their craft. As soon Abby’s favoritism became evident ( in terms of time spent teaching and in the level of choreography for solos) it left a bad taste in my mouth.

As a dance instructor for 25 years I too have experienced difficult moms and can’t understand Abby’s inability to separate her feelings for her dancers from those for their mothers. I can only assume it’s for the purpose of raising the level of drama for ratings.

Now about the Nationals and specifically pulling Maddie’s solo. This was not an altruistic move for the benefit of Maddie’s friends as portrayed. With Chloe coming in fifth that means there were 4 better soloists. This was done because if Maddie did not win, her stock as well as Abby’s would go down just before she opens her LA studio. This was a calculated business decision. Remember that when Sophia Lucia ( whose studio attended the same National competition) or Kalani Hilliker competed for ALDC as a soloist, Maddie didn’t have a solo then either. Again calculated to make sure Maddie wouldn’t lose.

Maddie is a talented dancer but her extensions and feet pale in comparison to Kalani’s and she doesn’t yet have the body control that Sophia has (note all big trick turns and leaps end with a choreographed fall to the floor). What she DOES HAVE is a malleable mother that will do as Abby says, something Christi wouldn’t do. Chloe is right to leave and continue dancing elsewhere, actually I think the boot and foot injury was manufactured to explain why she did not dance in ALDC’s annual recital. She has most likely moved on already to another studio.

Good luck to Chloe in her future endeavors and good luck as well to Kendall, the newly chosen underdog and Maddie wanna be in Abby’s eyes.

  8. Abby’s treatment of the dancers is horrendous. It is mental child abuse. The mothers should be ashamed of allowing their daughters to be subject to this abuse. The only girl who escapes it is Maddie. She is clearly the favorite. Her mother should be ashamed of the way that Abby treats her other daughter McKenzie. I am glad that Chloe has left. I can only hope that Nia will follow. These girls need to be appreciated for their talents. I don’t plan to watch Dance Moms any longer, however, if there is a show that features Chloe and Nia, I will be a viewer. Most of all, I hope that the LA studio is a flop and Abby gets what she deserves. After all karma is a bitch!

    • I thought Chloe did the best last night her solo was better than all the other girls from ALDC, however Abbey Lee didn’t give her credit. The girls won Nationals so what else does Abbey want. I don’t bame Chirsti for taking Chloe out of ALDC. Abbey is out of control, and she shouldn’t take her problems with the Moms out on the dancers. Abbey should have been happy the girls won National and Chloe placed better than the other girls in her solo. I don’t know if all the drama is glorified for TV but Abbey and the Moms but if it isn’t Abbey should treat the kids much better than she does and the Moms too. She is just awful and a b—ch. Christi and Chloe good luck to both of uo

  9. Wow ok am iI the only one who realises that abby trains these kids this way for a reason? If you cant take someone yelling at you in a studio how are you ever going to make it in the real world? Life isn’t fair, and thats what abby is trying to teach them. And really what abuse has chloe suffered? She is always saying how much pressure is put on her, well chloe, when you are doing a professional show, THERE IS GOING TO BE PRESSURE.
    just saying 🙂

    • Even in the professional world, there is NO excuse to mistreat people. Period. There is a huge difference between abuse and pressure. Chloe can handle pressure with grace and poise. She’s proven that time and time again. She just decided she was done being abused. What teacher, in their right mind, would hate a student even more for winning? One who tried her damnedest to do EVERYTHING in her power to make that student lose, only to have it backfire. Just saying

      • My point is that Chloe is always talking about the pressure on her. I mean if she doesn’t like the pressure then why is she even in this business?? Anyway, I’m not saying I don’t like Chloe or she’s not a good dancer because I do and she is but everybody likes the underdog and that is how the show has portrayed her. I may think that she hasn’t helped herself by letting her mother fight with Abby and seeming like she doesn’t want it as much as others, but I hope she has a successful career and good luck to her.
And on a late note why would Abby be in this business if she hates the kids? Honestly I think its the mother and people’s attitude towards dance that she hates. She must think why should I try and make them a star if they aren’t going to put the work in.

        • As a mother of 5 children (the older four involved in several activities), let me add that my children are never able to control me or my feelings. My job is to protect them. If that means telling someone exactly what I think of them, I’m certainly not going to let my child tell me if I can or cannot “fight” with an adult that is mistreating them. That is where Abby needed to separate the dancers from the mother. Abby would never disrespected her mother like that (God rest her soul). I don’t see her making the same kind of immature, belittling comments to Maddie to make her “tougher”. It’s a double standard and those beautiful young girls deserve better. Maybe Abby should work as Maddie and Mackenzie’s manager and let more competent choreographers without ill intention teach her students.

      • Making commercials may not be Broadway, but it is a profession where you work with lots of performers, adult and child. And I’ve never been on a set where anyone acted like Abby.

    • Life is unfair …maybe, but you don’t sabotage a child’s dance career because they beat lil maddie in nationals. Flabby has never forgiven Chloe for that..she has picked on the child and gone to the judges to have scores changed, belittled her, I prefer Chloe over Maddie any day…Chloe put up with her crap way longer then anyone else would. Maddie is a brat hitting her lil sister and taking tantrums …! If Chloe is gone I wont
watch that show ever again cuz the only reason I did watch it was to see Chloe stick it to Flabby Lee!

    • You can’t be watching the same show the rest of us are??? Dance moms? Tuesday night ? 9pm?

  10. I agree that Karma will get Ms Miller sooner or later. I hope that Chloe will find a venue so that we can continue to watch her dance. My heart goes out to her and I hope she knows how many people love and admire her for all she is and all she will become. Keep strong Chloe!

  11. I think Chloe leaving will cause the show to go down in the ratings, and probably signal the death knoll for it. I know I no longer plan to watch it. I am glad Christi and Chloe got out of, or finished their contract with Dance Moms for their own well beings. I hope Chloe’s new dance teacher is better in every way, and Chloe kicks ALDC’s butts at competition’s, especially Maddie’s. Maddie is a very good little dancer, but her ego has gotten away from her and that’s Abbie’s fault for putting her on a pedestal. Kids need to learn how to lose too, and Abbie shields her little monster from that at every opportunity. Hopefully Holly and Nia will escape as well. Jill and her kid should stay there with their lips glued to Abbie’s humongous behind.

  12. When is anyone going to realise that when you watch reality tv everything is set up. Probably the person who has come off the hardest is maddie and the producers should be ashamed of themselves for manipulating the show that way. Chloe is portrayed as the angel and maddie always gets bad comments because she is the “favourite”. Wake up people, things are so different behind the scenes. Many a reference has been made to Chloe’s other side but everyone loves an underdog so presto the producers made one. Delve into the background of all of this and you will see the real people. I can’t believe how easily people are taken in. Maddie is a beautiful fluid dancer which she should not have to apologise for. Leave the kid alone. Abby has a softer side that we got rare glimpses of but hey, that’s not reality tv. Holly is a pompous person who thinks she is above everyone else and well educated but can’t pronounce her words correctly. If you want to have a go at someone, make it an adult. Personally I wish all those girls well and where people were biased to Brooke and Page, who were very boring to watch dance, you got sucked into the hype. Watch if you want to, don’t if you don’t!

    • Chloe is doing well and is not “faked” for tv. Maddie has shown her true colors time after time. She is smug, self centered, and turned on her friends like a snake. Guess who her new bff is? Kendall.

Miller and maddie seem to think that stupid song by that bag on the head wearing awful singer is theirs. That sia is milking the free publicity for all she can.

Melissa, no matter how much you want to spin it as “scripted”, is a gold digging whore, and she outed her own self on that one.

I watched because of the Hylands and the Lukasiacs. Thankfully they have escaped lifetime and miller, so the show won’t be back, and if they try it will bomb.

      We love you Chloe!

      • Goodbye Abby and Maddie show hello Chloe we are waiting to see you Blossom into the beautiful dancer you are meant to be.
I AM EXCITED FOR YOUR FUTURE..
        KEEP ON DANCING….

  13. well it’s been an interesting & hard to watch run of it. Now that chloe is moving on– (Brooke & Paige have left long ago) there isn’t much interest in watching any more. I can’t stand any of abbey’s other shows & don’t waste time watching them. Now, I no longer will watch this one. Abbey is pretty ridiculous as a dance teacher. She’s not able to give equal & fair opportunities to each student (instead she always gives best choreography, costumes & music to whom she wants to win Maddie). That’s not a dance teacher, she should just resign & take on the job of being sole agent/manager to Maddie, as that’s all she’s interested in anyhow. When Christi told you that those original girls put you on the map– she hit the nail on the head!! Abbey– I don’t think LA is for you– its a place where REAL talent is fostered & very prevalent & full of real dance instructors!
Would however, be interested in following Chloe. Maybe they should have a new show that follows Chloe, Brooke, Paige & Nia–

    • I agree, I will not be watching Abby. I love watching the girls grow.
All are beautiful dancers. Chole continue doing what you love and do not let anyone stop you. Nia you have really grown in your dancing love watching you this season. I will watch all of you but get away from Abby, she is another from of a bully.

  14. Abby is simply a horrendous person.
Chloe has been our family’s favorite and a role model to my daughter since the very beginning.
To treat her the way she has is tantamount to child abuse.
EVERY TIME she beat Maddie/Kendall/Kamryn etc when she was clearly set up to fail, it just made Abby hate her all the more.
On one hand, I will miss her beautiful dancing and her kind, sweet nature, but at the same time I’m glad that she will no longer be abused by that nasty, childish, spiteful monster.

We will all miss you Chloe!!! We look forward to seeing you on SYTYCD in a few years!!!

    • Chloe isn’t eligible to compete in SYTYCD because she’s considered professional now. She taught a master class with Blake McGrath this past weekend and she was asked that by some of the parents.

      • That doesn’t make any sense. They’ve had professional dancers before on SYTYCD. Alex Wong danced with ABT and Miami City Ballet BEFORE he was on SYTYCD, as a soloist, and then as a principal soloist.

  15. It is terrible the way Abby treats the girls. Especially Chloe! She does not want her to succeed at anything! All I can say to Abby is ” karma’s a b#@tch”.

  16. Abby didn’t make fun of Chloe’s dancing–it was edited. She made fun of the way Chloe looks due to a medical condition. She said no one will every hire her with a face that looks like that. Abby will never make it in LA outside of reality TV. She is trash.

I hope each and every one of those girls has success outside of Abby.

  17. Well Sara, we made it through another season! It was great to see you take the reins of the new Dance Moms blogger, and you have not disappointed.

So… this nationals was underwhelming. I was in love with these routines, and they were all indeed stunning. Abby’s choreography was amazing this week, and I saw things she’s never done before. But, it was underwhelming for how dramatic the previews seemed, albeit Christi’s ending was dramatic.

Kendall’s solo was exquisite. I’m surprised you think it wasn’t as great as Applause. Kendall’s Applause solo is the one routine she does everywhere, at any other dance competition, any meet and great etc…, so that’s why the piece was great last week at concert. In my opinion, her new dance is in my favorite pieces of the entire season. Would it make you feel better to know that Kendall was actually 2nd in the Junior Division, as well as having the 9th overall highest score?

Chloe’s solo was meh… not the best she could’ve done with it. I’m normally the first to protect Chloe, but I was not extremely thrilled when I watched her. The only good point I can remember is that now in her turns, her arms are at even level, when not even six months ago, one was normally higher than the other.

Kamryn’s solo was my favorite performance in the episode, next to Chandelier by CADC. That fall was not as bad as we were made out to be, although any fall is bad regardless. Her choreography was outstanding though! It was so sharp for a contemporary piece!

If you noticed, Jeannette was sitting behind Abby with the select moms. She entered Ava in the competition as an independent soloist, Ava’s routine being aptly titled- Sweet Revenge and it was contemporary. She placed 3rd in Junior (Kendall beat her head-to-head competition!) and 10th overall soloist.

I found the New Team’s group dance very boring. I think I changed channels. To me it was a carbon copy of The Rapture. Although beautiful, it was not as exciting as I was amped up about it.

Amber Alert… that was chilling. Maddie and Mackenzie pulled their roles off outstandingly, some of the best emotion I’ve seen in the entire show! Besides that, I found nothing else, but applause all around for the Elite Team.

Am I the only one who loved Chandelier? Sure, Cathy stole Sia’s song, and the whole argument over it is as stupid as Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum from Alice in Wonderland, but I loved that dance! When everyone, but Lucas were turning, I was amazed. I lost count at how many turns they all did together. Lucas’s little featured bit he had in that part to, was amazing. Great emotion from him!

At the end, with Chloe and Christi and Abby, they left out the part where Abby bluntly tells Chloe to fix her eyes. I’m not one hundred percent certain, but Chloe had a lazy eye or something optically and Abby lashed out rudely about it, causing Christi to explode in typical fashion. I thought Christi was about to b-slap Abby upside the head when she charged!

Now, we’ve got a reunion episode to watch. By the title, it’s going to be as (and pardon my language), as shitty as Seeing Red reunion, because Abby is going to be the evil monster television portrayed her to be.

Oh yes, this is off topic- but it deals with my last sentence. I’m not a fan of Abby; at all. I’m not a fan of television Abby however. The thing is, I’ve never seen off-camera Abby. I can only judge by what we see on camera, and I can’t have any regard to anyone like Miss Abby Lee Miller because she allowed the producers of Dance Moms to turn her into this tyrant. She could’ve stopped it right then and there, but it continued and she’s now a far worse person on camera than ever.

Jeez, sorry for it being so long! I got to stop. It’s like midnight where I’m typing this and I’ve got school in the morning, so I’m gonna end it here and I’ll be eagerly waiting the next recap!

    • Oh whoops! Sorry Mrs. Acken! I thought it was Sara who posted the reply. Damn, I got to check before I post a comment. That’s the second time it’s happened.

    • I also was very surprised to find that I really liked the Chandelier dance. Cathy is claiming on Twitter that she did not want to do tht dance (when I watched her face on the show last night, I wondered why she looked so uncomfortable).

I don’t agree about Chloe’s solo, though. The choreography was beneath Chloe, which Christi tried to point out to Gia. Even so, Chloe rose to the occasion and still best out every other ALDC dancer. *note: Kamryn’s fall did not happen during the adjudication. Each dance is done twice for the competition. It’s not filmed while the judging takes place then performed for the cameras, so the fall was not what kept her from beating Chloe. I thought Kamryn did a beautiful job, though.

  18. I’ve had all I can take. Thankfully Christi got Chloe out, she is fine now, dancing at another studio, modeling for dance wear, and miller can go home because she cannot stop maddie from hitting puberty.

L.A.? Only in miller’s dreams. Bye all. It’s been crazy.

Christi, Chloe, Kelly, Brooke, and Paige, we love you!!!

    • Agree 100% – Abby has way too much bad karma coming her way for the way she treated and spoke to Chloe. Chloe dances because she loves to dance – not because her mom is pushing her. She lights up on the stage and she’s won Nationals before and will again – her grace and style – not to mention her perfect body type – tall and slender – she’ll book jobs like crazy. Christi – needs to take a breath and know good things are coming to her daughter – stay positive like your daughter. WE LOVE HER AND WATCHING HER DANCE!!! YOU ROCK CHLOE!!!

  19. Chloe and the original team is the only reason I watch this show. I have watched them grow into superstar dancers at the urging from a witch Abby). I am an elementary teacher and a professional. No teacher in America can get away with the verbal abuse that Abby lays on these kids week by week. These kind of abusive teachers are fired and usually taken to court. This women needs to be put away in an insane facility with no way to ever get out. The producers also need to be sued for promoting such garbage. I liked to watch the girls dance with my dancer daughter but not anymore. My other daughter use to teach dance and won several national titles. She teaches in a calm and structured manner and gives every kid equal time and routines. The abuse that Chloe has suffered this season is inexcusable. If the show continues please put Chloe on and tell Abby to be fair to all and producers calm down all the crap. Go back to season 1 it is not near as damaging. Where are the daddies in all this? My husband would not have taken any of this mess from an overweight washed up dance teacher and all her insecurities. We both love our children and would never treat them as animals. Dance Moms I know much of this is staged but this show makes y’all look like incompetent moms and idiots. I hope the money was worth it because you are going to have to spend it on counseling for your daughters in the future. Get this straight I love your daughters and pray the very best over them.
