Vh1’s Dating Naked Wedding: Recap

I totally cry at weddings. Good weddings, bad weddings, trashy weddings, so I’m pretty sure I’m going to cry during tonight’s  Wedding.  But I guess it’s not really a wedding, because (obviously) Ashley and Alika wanted their families there for the real deal (and to wear clothes) so this is a naked love ceremony.

I never thought it would be Ashley and Alika getting married, but to hear Ashley describe meeting her soul mate, it is incredibly sweet and you realize how obviously perfect they are for each other. And to see flash backs to their first meeting is great. Seeing love grow is fun.

They’re both free spirits and their wedding is definitely going to be non-traditional. Instead of a photographer taking pictures, they and their guests are going to make a picture. Instead of a DJ, their guests are going to play instruments. Their love ceremony won’t include their friends and family members, because as much as Ashley wanted her grandma there, Granny didn’t want to be nude. But the ceremony (put on courtesy the folks at VH1 and for our benefit) will include some of our favorites from past episodes of Dating Naked.

They say, “It’s a ceremony of love, Anything could happen.”

The first couple to arrive is Joe an Wee Wee from episode #1. They are perfect, should be getting married next. If you believe in reincarnation, these two definitely knew each other in a past life.

The next guests are Kristin and Chuck from Episode 4. Chuck is naked from the get-go. It’s the first time that Chuck and Kristin have seen each other since Panama, but text each other daily and video chat often.

Marissa and Steven arrive next. They met in Episode 2 when the Aussie geek met his geekette. Their relationship is new and this weekend is the first test of their relationship.

And what’s a good wedding without a hot single? Marcus from Episode 5 is ready to mingle after failing to land Candace.

Moenay from Episode 8 is another single guest. She failed to find love on her episode, (remember Mike picked bubble head Stephanie?) and to add insult to injury; her third date stood her up.

As if on cue, Mikey and Stephanie arrive. Awkward for Moenay. Since their naked meeting, Mike and Stephanie met up and even went on vacation to Las Vegas. But I think they kept their clothes on. They’ve even recorded a music video together appropriately called, Naked.

Episode 3’s Dan arrived solo. He was so endearing and geeky on his episode, but he failed to find love, mostly because he just keeps talking.

Thankfully there is lots of alcohol so the awkwardness of being naked quickly melts into a buzz. Marcus is already interested in beautiful Moenay.

Ashley and Alika arrive and greet their guests. They also share why they both think they’re perfect for each other. They’re both aligned with the divine feminine (I had to look that up). And Ashley explains Alika’s work as a Daka worker (Sexual healer) the immature guest at the wedding are beside themselves.

Instead of a rehearsal dinner, Ashley and Alika treat their guests to naked yoga. Because who needs food, when you can exercise, right?

The naked yoga begins with naked “ohm”ing, which is actually naked giggling. At one point, Ashley turns around and shushes the peanut gallery. Naked yoga involves so much naked bending over! Ashley hopes that the naked yoga will get the goofiness out so they can take the rest of the wedding seriously.

Steven is being incredibly annoying. I’m not sure if he’s drunk, but his shtick is annoying girlfriend Marissa. She confesses her annoyance to Dan and perhaps he can find an opening and swoop in on Marissa. Steven feels like Marissa is a bossy nag and Wee Wee tells him he should move on.

Ashley and Alika are having their guests paint a canvas instead of signing a guestbook. I don’t know whose home can accommodate an 8 foot tall canvas, and for that natter, who wants an 8 foot tall canvas covered with primary-colored penises. I guess Alika and Ashley do.

AJ and Liddy, from Episode 7 crash the wedding festivities. They’re both cool together and even though they picked each other on the island; they’ve become each other’s wingman and friends.

AJ moves in on Wee Wee and Joe gets jealous. They squabble and Joe storms off.

A fun flash back to Panama recalls a few of the wildlife encounters that the naked daters had : AJ and Liddy and a monkey, Stephanie and Mikey and a giant bug.

Back at the wedding venue, Joe and Wee Wee make up and I’m sure that 90% of his jealousy is due to alcohol, his traditional values and a growing suspicion that Joe has something else up his (invisible) sleeves. They kiss and make up.

The wedding guests are no longer covered in paint, so perhaps it’s the next day, wedding day. They are led into a circle and sit on blankets and beat drums.

Two random shamans sit in the middle. Naked.

Stephanie is afraid that she’s about to experience witch craft. Marissa is wishing for something more traditional.

Dating Naked WeddingAshley walks in in a gorgeous silver negligee-like gown with feathered epaulets. She looks stunning, like a goddess. The dress would be work by Lady Gaga if she was feeling sexy and gentle instead of like wearing meat or bubbles.

Alika is wearing a navy shirt and dark pants and he looks like a member of stage crew at a high school musical. Fortunately, his face is gorgeous and they’re both quickly naked so we don’t have to look at his terrible ensemble and can instead feast upon his naked perfection.

Ashley tells Alika that her intention is to always allow him space to step into his power and step into his work. (as a sexual healer). Alika is touched. Alika intends to support her Leo rising and support her creativity.

It’s quite sweet. Their hands are bound by ribbons and they kiss to mark their union.

Then it gets weird again and they march around like preschoolers on parade. Banging drums, shaking maracas and flailing about.

Back to a recap of the island and all of the daters making out. Many, many kisses.

Back at the ceremony, there’s much feasting and celebrating.

But not everything in paradise is happy, Stephen pulls Marissa aside and breaks up with her. They had fun on the island, but they’re not right for each other. She’s too much like his mom and her feeling is mutual.

While everyone sits around the fire pit, Joe asks Wee Wee an important question…He asks her to move in with him and she says yes. He’s ready to take their relationship to the next level.

Moenay and Marcus agree to meet for drinks the next day, so hopefully they can find a connection with each other.

Dan moves in on newly single Marissa and asks her out. As soon as Dan starts yammering, she says NO WAY and runs away.

Once the guests leave, Ashley an Alika stroll down a romantic lit path to a teepee. But it’s far more romantic that it sounds, I promise. They slip into the honeymoon room, or “womb” as Alika calls it, and they get to starting a family.

Next week, we’re going to see the pilot that started it all, the first Dating Naked. I can’t wait. (and I hope we see Amy Paffrath who wasn’t a part of the commitment ceremony)

What do you think of the Dating Naked Wedding? Do you think Joe and Wee Wee are next?  Or maybe Kristin and Chuck?
