Disney Channel’s “I Didn’t Do It” Gets Help From Famous Bears

Sunday’s all-new episode of Disney Channel’s series, I Didn’t Do It, gets a little help from a few Monsters of the Midway when NFL Legend Dick Butkus and Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Alshon Jeffery play themselves in guest starring roles.

Chicago twins Lindy and Logan Watson and their best friends, Jasmine, Garret and Delia are working their way through freshman year. Unfortunately, wacky things always seem to happen to them, and they are often left to explain exactly what happened. In “Ball or Nothing,” Lindy and Logan accidentally destroy their father’s football signed by NFL Hall of Famer Dick Butkus, and go on a mission to track down the Chicago football legend and have him sign a new ball.

Dick Butkus played for the Chicago Bears from 1965-1973 and the tough-hitting linebacker was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1979. Post-football, Butkus enjoyed a tremendous career as an actor, including roles on the ABC comedy My Two Dads and the role of Coach Mike Katowinski on the NBC Saturday morning basketball series Hang Time.

Butkus most recently played himself on the sitcom, Mike and Molly, and returning to sitcom work was a blast for the 73 year-old athlete turned actor. “Working with Alshon and the cast was fun and it was the first time I heard the term ‘selfie.'” said Butkus.

This is Alshon Jeffery’s first acting role. The wide receiver played for the South Carolina Gamecocks before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft.
