New look for “The View”

After being on the air for nearly 20 years, and saying goodbye to a few of its hosts (most recently, Sherri Shepherd left a few weeks back, and Barbara Walters retired earlier this summer), ABC’s daytime staple The View is reinventing itself for its upcoming season premiere on Sept. 15, according a network release.

For starters, The View has a new studio at the ABC Broadcast Center, featuring a “visually stunning, contemporary state-of-the-art set designed in the round and offering the addition of an on-camera social media station allowing the hosts to interact in real time with viewers.”

ABC is also branding The View with a new color scheme and logo, the first time in the show’s history that it has changed significantly. The network says that The View‘s new direction hits national airwaves today with promotional teaser spots.

Also part of the new direction is the previously announced return of former co-host Rosie O’Donnell, who will be seated on the new set opposite the show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg. No word yet on the other panelists.

ABC also states that, “The View will stay committed to the original concept of smart women of different ages, experiences and backgrounds with diverse points of view engaging in thought provoking discussions derived from topics that face our nation and the world.”

The View airs weekdays at 11am ET/PT on ABC. Season 18 begins Sept. 15.
