When American Ninja Warrior returns to NBC on Monday, May 26 (9-11pmET), will an American finally defeat Mt. Midoriyama? Now in its sixth season, American Ninja Warrior and pits the nation’s best athletes, including rock climbers, gymnasts, firefighters and Olympic gold medalists, against a series of challenging obstacle courses, where a single fall means disqualification.
After qualifying rounds in five U.S. cities, only the best will compete in Las Vegas against Mt. Midoriyama. Whoever defeats the seemingly impossible four-stage course wins the title of “American Ninja Warrior” and the $500,000 grand prize. American Ninja Warrior is based on the popular Japanese game show Sasuke.
In the Season 6 premiere, we see the first round of qualifying from Venice Beach, California. Competitors must tackle ten obstacles in the qualifying round including The Warped Wall and three brand new obstacles; the Slack Ladder, the Jumping Bars Into Cargo and the Cannonball Alley. Olympian rower Susan Francia and luger Kate Hanson tackle the course along with ANW veteran David Campbell. Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja Biamila return as hosts as Jenn Brown also returns as co-host.
