Dancing With The Stars Preview: Latin Night

Dancing With The Stars
Rib-breaking fun!

Tonight on Dancing With the Stars it’s Latin night in the ballroom and the stakes are higher than ever. At the end of the night, one couple will be going home. Who do you think it will be? Perhaps the most important question of the night is will Danica McKellar be able to dance after breaking a rib during this week’s rehearsals?

I’m surprised that it was Danica who got hurt. Val seems like the more gentle of the Chmerkovskiy brothers, I would have put a bet on Maksim breaking one of Meryl’s tiny bird bones doing some crazy death drop or tossing her across the dance floor.

Dance teams are now required to perform two dances: one individual dance and one team dance — the first of the season. Even though the teams get half as long to learn each dance, the judges will expect the dances to be twice as good!

Here is dance info for this week…

Filling the guest judge seat this week is Grammy Award-winning singer Ricky Martin. Ricky was a child member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo and was first introduced to the American mainstream as Miguel on the soap opera General Hospital. But, Ricky is best known as the artist who launched the “Latin Invasion of 1999.” When he performed La Copa de la Vida/Cup of Life on the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, the world took notice. The vibrant Latin sound was undeniably fresh and America was eager to more. And, a month later, when Martin released Livin’ La Vida Loca, it quickly shot to #1 and began a fervor for all things Latin. Ricky’s success paved the way for other Latin cross-over artists like Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. Today, Ricky has found success as a Broadway actor; he starred recently in a revival of Evita, and continues to record and perform music. Tonight on DWTS, Ricky will perform his new song Vida, the theme song for the 2014 World Cup.

Ricky is very enthusiastic and outspoken, so he should be a great addition to tonight’s judging panel. I can’t wait for the following phrases to be screamed by Bruno (there may be more exclamation marks needed):

“Shake Your Bon-Bon!”
“Livin’ la Vida Sexy!”
“She Bangs!”
“Nobody Wants to be Lonely!”
“The Best Thing About Me Is You!”
“A Latin Explosion!”
“Fiery and Feisty”
“Spicy Senorita”
“Chili Pepper”
Fanning Self
Wiping Face
Ripping off Clothes

If you want, feel free to make yourself a bingo card, or a “BRUNO” card. Have fun.
