American Meb Keflezighi Wins the 2014 Boston Marathon

Meb Keflezighi, 38, becomes the first American man to win the Boston Marathon since 1983. Keflezighi won the men’s division, with an official time of 2:08:37, according to the Boston Marathon’s Facebook page. Keflezighi is the 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist in the Marathon and finished in 4th place in the 2012 Olympic Marathon. In 2009, he also won the ING New York City Marathon.

Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the women’s division for a second straight year with an unofficial time of 2:18:57, setting a new course record according to the event’s official Twitter account.The women’s elite group began the 26.2-mile journey around 9:30amET, and the elite men’s group at 10amET.
