“The Real Housewives of New York City” is Back in the Borough

After an extended hiatus, The Real Housewives of New York City returns to Bravo on Tuesday, March 11 (9pm ET/PT) for a new season of drama.  Back this season to navigate the hustle and bustle of NYC’s social elite are Aviva Drescher, Sonja Morgan, Carole Radziwill, Ramona Singer and Heather Thomson, who are joined by new housewife, 36 year-old Model/Mom Kristen Teakman.

Kristen Taekman is New York’s newest “Housewife.”

We sat down with Heather and Kristen to get the scoop on the new season, and get to know Manhattan’s hottest new housewife. Heather and Kristen have known each other for years, and Heather gushes about what a great addition Kristen has been to the group, saying “She’s beautiful inside-and-out. And she lets them have it when she needs to and forms her own opinion and I think she’s been fantastic.”

Heather said to look forward to some great drama this season; “I like to call it a Sex and the City kind of drama this season,” she says. “There are trials and tribulations.  But, you know, there is overcoming of those trials and tribulations.”

Asked if Kristen is worried about reality TV’s affect on her marriage, she says not to worry, and insists that her relationship with husband Josh won’t befall the strain of public scrutiny, “I mean, Josh and I — we fight, we bicker,” she admits. “We have a two and five-year old. So you know, we’re still changing diapers.  And my daughter still gets up some nights. And that just really weighs heavy on us as a couple.  And then towards the end of the season, I decided that bickering is our personal form of flirting.  So I’m going to stick with that. “

Successful businesswoman Heather agrees. “Remembering who signed on to be the ‘Housewife’ is important in the marriage and making sure that your marriage has to come first,” she says. “And that’s my M.O. (Modus operandi). That’s how we roll.”

Each Real Housewife has a tagline, and Kristin’s “I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m pretty,” needs a little explaining.  Laughs Kristin, “Well, first of all, I’d like to say I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed. But I’m not the dullest either. I don’t take life seriously. You know, I take my work, and my family life seriously. But everything else is just — it’s silly, it’s funny, it’s a reality show.” Heather agrees with her friend, “She’s playing off the stereotype. And I think it’s hysterical.”

Expect lots high-class hijinks this season when high society in high heels returns on The Real housewives of New York City. Also returning this season, but in a diminished, recurring role is Countess LuAnn de Lessops. The ladies will escape the safely of Manhattan for rustic trips to the Berkshires and a “Glamping” trip to Montana; an episode you won’t want to miss, says Kristen Taekman. “You really get to know a lady when you’re riding a horse in Montana, let me tell you,” she says.
