New Maria Bartiromo show helps launch updated FBN business day programming slate

FOX Business Network (FBN) will launch its new business day programming lineup on Monday, Feb. 24, headlined by the debut of Maria Bartiromo’s new, two-hour program, Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo. Bartiromo (pictured), a reporter formerly with CNN and CNBC, joined FBN and FOX News Channel (FNC) last year, and serves as anchor for Opening Bell, which will air weekdays from 9-11am ET. According to an FBN release, Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo will feature the latest news on world market openings and stock moves, as well as the key business headlines of the day. Bartiromo will interview major financial leaders as she breaks down what viewers need to know both before and after the opening bell rings.

In a release announcing FBN’s new programming lineup, Kevin Magee, executive vice president of FOX Business, said, “Our new schedule will enhance our ability to deliver timely key business news, and we are thrilled to debut fresh programming with an all-star team.”

Among that programming will be some shifts, including Varney & Co., anchored by Stuart Varney, now airing from 11am-1pm ET. MONEY with Melissa Francis will move to 2pm ET, and The Willis Report, hosted by Gerri Willis, will shift to 5pm ET beginning Monday, Feb. 10. Cavuto, anchored by FBN Managing Editor Neil Cavuto, will now run at 6pm ET, with an encore at 8pm ET. According to FBN, these changes will remain in place when the new business day programming block starts on Feb. 24.

FBN also notes that Liz Claman will continue hosting Countdown to the Closing Bell (3-4pm ET) and co-anchoring After the Bell with David Asman (4-5pm ET). Lou Dobbs Tonight remains at 7pm ET, preceding Cavuto (8pm ET), The Independents (Monday-Wednesday, and Friday at 9pm ET) and Stossel (Thursday at 9pm ET).

UPDATE 3/28/14:

Maria Bartiromo will now also be hosting a new program called Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, which will air Sundays at 10am ET on FOX News Channel (FNC) beginning March 30. The show will focus on the intersection of commerce and news events, offering viewers in-depth analysis on recent developments in the economy. Each week, Bartiromo will interview business leaders and industry newsmakers on topics such as job creation and investment opportunities, providing viewers with an inside look at how to prepare financially for the future.

To make room for Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, FNC’s program Sunday Housecall will now air Sundays at 12:30pm ET starting March 30.
