USA Network’s “Psych” ending after Season 8; series finale on March 26

USA Network made official today what many Psych fans had dreaded — the network announced that the fan-favorite series’ current Season 8 will be the last for the show. The series finale of Psych will air on USA March 26 at 9pm ET, followed by a one-hour, live, interactive “Psych After Pshow,” featuring a Q&A with the entire cast and creator Steve Franks. The moderated discussion, in which the cast reflects on the series, is hosted by Kevin Pereira (Attack of the Show) and will take place in front of a studio audience in Los Angeles.

Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA Network, in a release. “The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series’ incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus.”

Jeff Wachtel, president and chief content officer for NBCU Cable Entertainment, added in the release: “Psych is one of those rare projects that broke into the cultural mainstream. Its wild energy, fearless fun and engaging characters delivered an unrivaled series that will continue to be loved by fans for as long as there are ways to watch TV.”

Here’s a message about the final season from Psych stars James Roday and Dulé Hill, in which they remind fans that they will “always have Santa Barbara.” And syndication.

Season 8 of Psych airs Wednesdays at 9pm ET on USA Network.

The Psych series finale will air March 26 at 9pm, followed by the live Psych After Pshow at 10pm.
