At the Television Press Association’s 2014 Winter Press Tour today OWN president Sheri Salata announced the network’s plans for 10 new shows this year. Topping the list of new series includes a docu-series that follows the once troubled star Lindsay Lohan in her attempts to rebuild her life. The Lindsay Lohan reality series on OWN is titled Lindsay and debuts March 9 at 10pm ET.
“Oprah and Lindsay Lohan met in New York City following her sixth stay in rehab. They had a candid conversation about addiction, alcoholism, Adderall, and Lindsay having become the epitome of child star gone wrong,” Salata said. “A few weeks later, shooting began on a documentary series following Lindsay’s attempts to rebuild her life.”
Cameras follow Lohan as she returns to New York, reunites with friends and family, and attempts to build a new life. As she works to stay on track amid the demands (and pitfalls) of fame, she discusses everything from her emotional recovery process to her exhausting run-ins with the paparazzi.
The short clip showed Lohan giving self-confessionals about her state of mind, as well as friends and family chiming in on her progress, one questionable on her sobriety (although maybe just for promotional purposes). One clip had a rattled Oprah hell bent on setting Lindsay straight after rumors circulated that she wasn’t following their established rules dictating filming of the series.
“This is exactly what everybody said was going to happen and I believed differently,” Winfrey said in the clip. She later confronts Lindsay and threatens to pull cameras out of her home if this isn’t what she wants.
Let’s hope this one has a happy ending.
