It’s all about Hugh Jackman this week (well, not all) with both Prisoners and The Wolverine premiering. Matt Damon shares the space, with the debut of Elysium and Robert De Niro joins the fun with The Family. If you are a fan of One Direction (or, you’ve got a fan in the household) the documentary about the band, One Direction: This Is Us, also becomes available this week.

Elysium Matt Damon stars in director Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) sci-fi allegory about an ex-con who must find passage to the orbiting space station housing the rich and privileged in order to procure medical treatment to save his life. The Family Robert De Niro sends up his tough-guy image, playing the head of the Manzoni family, a notorious Mafia clan that is relocated to France as part of the witness protection program and finds they have a hard time adjusting. Directed by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element). Also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron (R, 1:51) 12/17 Same day as DVD release

Kick-Ass 2 Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) return in this sequel that finds the costumed vigilantes joining forces with a group of like-minded citizens who feel the need to dress up to fight crime. Meanwhile, Red Mist plots his revenge. Also stars Jim Carrey (R, 1:43) 12/17 Same day as DVD release

The Lone Ranger This big-budget update of the classic Western hero is told from the viewpoint of Tonto (Johnny Depp), who recounts his adventures with John Reid (Armie Hammer), a masked legend who fought for justice. Also stars William Fichtner (PG-13, 2:29) 12/17

One Direction: This Is UThis documentary traces the incredible story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Harry, who endured humble beginnings to become worldwide music sensations. (PG, 1:35) 12/17 Same day as DVD release

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters The son of Poseidon returns for his second adventure, this time embarking with his friends on a quest to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from resurfacing. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson (PG, 1:46) 12/17

Prisoners Hugh Jackman plays a father desperate to find his missing daughter, and he’s willing to take the law into his own hands to track the man he believes to be responsible when the police come up empty. Also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano (R, 2:33) 12/17 Same day as DVD release
