Thanksgiving 2013 TV programming

Thanksgiving 2013 in the United States is as late as it can be this year — Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013. Leading up to that date, and over Thanksgiving 2013 weekend, as always, there will be plenty of TV programming related to the holiday (and even the start of some Christmas programming), as well as sporting events and marathons of movies and TV series.

Here is some of the notable Thanksgiving 2013 TV programming in the U.S. All times are Eastern; check back for updates and additions.

South Park: “Black Friday” — Nov. 13 at 10pm on Comedy Central. The boys prepare to battle the crowds the day after Thanksgiving to get the best deal on the new gaming systems. Meanwhile, Randy gets a job working as a mall security guard to help control the insane number of people lining up to take advantage of the official first day of holiday shopping.

Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited Marathon — Nov. 18 from 9am-9pm on BBC America. This marathon kicks off BBC America’s celebration of Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary over the next week.

Doctor Who: Tales from the TARDIS — Nov. 18 at 9pm on BBC America. This new special features the series’ actors and producers sharing their experiences and memories. Intervies include actors who have played the Doctor: Matt Smith, David Tennant, Tom Baker and Peter Davison; actors who have played companions: Jenna Coleman, Karen Gillan, Freema Agyeman and William Russell, as well as current lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.

The Science of Doctor Who with Brian Cox — Nov. 18 at 10pm on BBC America. Professor Brian Cox, a former rock star and popular TV physicist in Britain, explores the universe of the Time Lord with the help of celebrity guests. This special was recorded in the lecture theatre of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, where Cox reveals the science behind the show.

Doctor Who — The Ninth Doctor Marathon — Nov. 19 from 10am-11pm on BBC America.

Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas Begins — Nov. 20-30 on ABC Family. Yes, eight days before Thanksgiving, ABC Family is prepping you for its Christmas programming. Over the next 10 days, it will be airing various holiday programming, including the premiere movie Christmas Bounty on Nov. 26.

Doctor Who — The Tenth Doctor Marathon — Nov. 20 from 2am-11pm on BBC America.

The Middle: “Thanksgiving V” — Nov. 20 at 8pm on ABC. Thanksgiving finds the Heck family in turmoil when Axl tries to figure out the perfect time to tell his parents that he dropped three out of his four college classes. Frankie’s dad, Tag, admits to Mike that he lost a lot of money gambling online and won’t be able to take his wife Pat on a planned cruise. Sue is hiding a shocking secret from her discount shopping excursion with Frankie, Dr. Goodwin and Uncle Rusty’s wife and kids show up unannounced for Thanksgiving dinner, and Brick goes to extreme measures to have lime green jello salad during the feast.

Annoying Orange: “Thanksfornothing Day” — Nov. 20 at 8pm on Cartoon Network. The fruits feel they have nothing to be thankful for after the calamity that happened years ago at Plymouth Wok.

South Park: “A Song of Ass and Fire” — Nov. 20 at 10pm on Comedy Central. Black Friday is still coming in this new episode, as hordes of soulless shoppers approach the mall in anticipation of the Black Friday sales. The Console Wars are heating up in South Park. Princess Kenny’s betrayal has left Cartman out for revenge. The kids prepare for an epic battle where one faction’s favorite gaming device will come out on top. Will Stan and Kyle’s friendship survive Black Friday?

Doctor Who — The Eleventh Doctor Marathon Part 1 — Nov. 21 from 9am-11pm on BBC America. The Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith.

The Big Bang Theory: “The Thanksgiving Decoupling” — Nov. 21 at 8pm on CBS. Sheldon protests when the gang drags him to Mrs. Wolowitz’s house for Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, Penny and Leonard must deal with a mistake from her past.

The Michael J. Fox Show: “Thanksgiving” (pictured at top) — Nov. 21 at 9:30pm on NBC. When Mike and Leigh’s parents (guest stars Charles Grodin and Candice Bergen) come to town for Thanksgiving, Mike struggles to have an honest conversation with his father, while Annie deals with Mike’s controlling mother. Eve teams up with Harris to keep tradition alive in the Henry household.

Doctor Who — The Eleventh Doctor Marathon Part 2 — Nov. 22 from 9am-8pm on BBC America. The Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith.

Doctor Who Explained — Nov. 22 at 8pm on BBC America. A new special featuring interviews with principal cast members from the show’s 50-year history.

The Neighbors: “Thanksgiving Is No Schmuck Bait” — Nov. 22 at 8:31pm on ABC. Marty and Debbie are hoping for an uneventful Thanksgiving, but their hopes are dashed when Marty’s father arrives with a suitcase and informs the family that, after fifty years of marriage, he and Marty’s mother are getting divorced … and, oh yeah, he’s moving in. Jackie’s parents arrive from Zabvron just in time to witness the fallout and learn about the peculiarities of human relationships.

An Adventure in Space and Time — Nov. 22 at 9pm on BBC America. David Bradley, Brian Cox, Jessica Raine and Sacha Dhawan star in this dramatic retelling of how the very first Doctor Who episode was created by the BBC in 1963, and how it went on to grow into a success.

Hawaii Five-0: “Hau’oli Lā Ho’omaika’i” — Nov. 22 at 9pm on CBS. As Thanksgiving approaches, Five-0 investigates the murder of a secret service agent just as the President travels to Oahu. Also, McGarrett’s Aunt Deb (guest star Carol Burnett) visits, bringing with her a shocking secret.

Doctor Who — The Eleventh Doctor Marathon Part 3 — Nov. 23 from 1am-2pm on BBC America. The Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith.

My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic (Season 4) — Nov. 23 at 10am on The Hub Network. In the Season 4 premiere, “Princess Twilight, Part One,” Princess Twilight is busy adjusting to her new wings and her new role in Equestria when Celestia and Luna go missing. Meanwhile, her friends are having unusual troubles of their own, and it will take all of them working together to help find the missing royals. This is followed by “Princess Twilight, Part Two,” at 10:30am. The series airs regularly Saturdays at 10:30am. Prior to the season premiere, The Hub will air a My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic marathon from 6-10am.

Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor — Nov. 23, global simulcast at 2:50pm ET (seen on BBC America in the U.S.); rebroadcast at 7pm ET on BBC America. The centerpiece of BBC America’s celebrations is the global simulcast of Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary special, Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor, written by Steven Moffat. The Doctors (Matt Smith and David Tennant) embark on their greatest adventure across space and time. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him. Starring Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, with Billie Piper and John Hurt. Last seen as the Doctor on January 1, 2010, this will be the first time David Tennant has reprised his role as the Tenth Doctor.

Mike & Molly: “Thanksgiving Is Cancelled” — Nov. 23 at 8pm on CBS. When Mike gets sick for Thanksgiving, Molly is excited that she doesn’t have to cook – until Vince invites his brother to town for a homemade Thanksgiving meal.

Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — Nov. 23 at 8pm on Comedy Central. Bill Cosby celebrates his first concert special in 30 years.

Atlantis — Nov. 23 at 9pm on BBC America. Greek myths and legends are reimagined for a new generation in this fun new series that follows young Jason (Jack Donnelly) as he finds himself in the lost city of Atlantis. There, he encounters friends like Hercules (Mark Addy) and Pythagoras (Robert Emms), who join him on adventures that range from confronting snake-haired goddess Medusa to battling at Troy.

Penguins: Waddle All the Way — Nov. 23 at 9pm on Discovery Channel. Jane Lynch narrates this two-hour special from the filmmaker behind Polar Bears: Spy on the Ice and other acclaimed films. This production enters the elusive world of penguins from an entirely new angle — using more than 50 remote controlled cameras camouflaged as super-realistic penguins, chicks and even eggs. These cameras allowed filmmakers a chance to waddle up close and personal with these birds on land and at sea. Apparently, the cameras appeared so lifelike that some of the penguins even tried to befriend them.

Stonados — Nov. 23 at 9pm on Syfy. After being postponed in April due to events at the Boston Marathon, and then postponed again this summer, the film finally airs just ahead of Thanksgiving. The plot, according to Syfy’s short-and-sweet synopsis: “Tornados hurl large exploding stones at Boston!”

Doctor Who — Matt Smith Countdown — Nov. 24 from 9am-8pm on BBC America. The network counts down the top 11 episodes from the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, as voted on by fans.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas — Nov. 24 at 7:30pm on TBS. The 1966 animated special.

The Wizard of Oz — Nov. 24 at 8pm & 10:15pm; Nov. 29 at 3:45pm on TBS. The 1939 classic starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley and Bert Lahr.

2013 American Music Awards — Nov. 24, live at 8pm on ABC. Pitbull will serve as this event’s first host since 2008, and will also perform his new single “Timber” with Ke$ha. Justin Timberlake will perform for the first time at this event as a solo artist. Jennifer Lopez will perform a tribute to music legend Celia Cruz. Katy Perry will open the show with the single “Unconditionally.” TLC will also perform, marking their AMA return with a special, unannounced guest. Other performers will include Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Gaga, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and One Direction. The awards are voted on by fans at AMAvote.com and, for the first time, via Twitter.

Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited — The Eleventh Doctor — Nov. 24 at 8pm on BBC America. This new special in the series celebrates Matt Smith, who first stepped into the TARDIS in 2010 and, after starring in the 50th anniversary special, will regenerate in the Christmas special. The special is followed by the Eleventh Doctor two-part story, “The Impossible Astronaut” and “Day of the Moon,” in which a strange summons reunites the Doctor, Amy (Karen Gillan), Rory (Arthur Darvill) and River (Alex Kingston) in the middle of the Utah desert and unveils a terrible secret the Doctor’s friends must never reveal to him. These were the first Doctor Who episodes to be filmed in the U.S.

Sunday Night Football: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots — Nov. 24 at 8:20pm on NBC.

Bob’s Burgers: “Turkey in a Can” — Nov. 24 at 8:30pm on FOX. Determined to have a perfect Thanksgiving, Bob meticulously prepares the family turkey. But, to his horror, he finds that someone then dumps the turkey in the toilet in an act of Thanksgiving sabotage.

American Dad: “Kung Pao Turkey” — Nov. 24 at 9:30pm on FOX. Stan’s plans for a perfect Thanksgiving watching football in his underwear are thwarted when Francine invites her adoptive parents to join them for the holiday. Meanwhile, Francine’s mom encourages Hayley to get back on the dating scene and invites an eligible bachelor over, but her true intentions are revealed at Thanksgiving dinner. Mariah Carey makes a guest-voice appearance.

Regular Show: “The Thanksgiving Special” — Nov. 25 at 7:30pm on Cartoon Network. The park guys need to get Thanksgiving dinner for their families to save Thanksgiving. Terry Crews and Chord Overstreet guest star.

Modern Marvels: “The Turkey” — Nov. 25 at 9pm on H2. From pets to presidential pardons, this episode offers an up-close look at the feisty fowl that’s the reluctant star of our holiday dinners.

Christmas Bounty — Nov. 26 at 7pm on ABC Family. WWE star Mike “The Miz” Mizanin stars in this original film. A former bounty hunter turned elementary schoolteacher (Francia Raisa) is determined to have a normal life and keep her past a secret. But when her fiancé follows her home for a Christmas holiday, she struggles to hide her wild family business and the bounty hunter ex-boyfriend (The Miz) she thought she left behind.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer — Nov. 26 at 8pm on CBS. The original Rankin/Bass holiday classic. This is a 1998 color-corrected version that restores the special’s original visual texture and rich palette of colors (with Santa’s elves having their blue suits back after years of wearing faded green).

The Biggest Loser — Nov. 26 at 8pm on NBC. The holiday week kicks off with a special Thanksgiving challenge that will help the tornado victims of Moore, Oklahoma, where one player has a special connection. Eager to pay it forward, the contestants race to load boxes of Thanksgiving turkeys, cranberries, green beans and yams into trucks. The winning team is very thankful for their prize – a holiday dinner shared at the ranch with loved ones flown in for the celebration.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: “Thanksgiving” — Nov. 26 at 8:30pm on FOX. Amy wants to host a Thanksgiving dinner for the entire precinct, but it turns into a holiday disaster when Holt and Jake have to leave to go catch a perp. Boyle steps in to save Turkey Day.

New Girl: “Thanksgiving III” — Nov. 26 at 9pm on FOX. The gang’s survival skills are tested when Nick and Jess take them camping for Thanksgiving. Coach and Schmidt battle it out over who is the best woodsman, while Cece and Winston bond over their mutual distaste for the outdoors.

Swampsgiving 2 — Nov. 26 at 10pm on History. In this holiday episode of Swamp People, viewers get a glimpse at the world of the swamp in the off-season and the various traditions surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday down in the bayou. Swampers are going all out to make this year’s family feast one to remember. Troy Landry has invited Texan swampers, T-Roy and Bigfoot, over to celebrate and have a little swamp-style fun. Fans will see Troy challenging the Texans to a “hog-off”: whoever catches the biggest beast is the winner and the loser has to prepare both hogs for the family feast. Over in Houma, RJ and Jay Paul Molinere are embarking on a nighttime bow hunt looking to catch red fish for their famous Cubion. Meanwhile, Gator Queen, Liz Cavalier, is making her family’s specialty: fried nutria rats. The Cavalier clan takes viewers on a ride as they hunt the furry critters from their airboat.

The Real Story of Thanksgiving — Nov. 26 at 11:02pm on History. A look at how what began as a somber, Puritan day of prayer became about football and food.

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving — Nov. 27 at 8am on Hallmark Channel. Jacqueline Bisset and Tatiana Maslany star in this movie set in the late 1880s, where a widowed mother of four struggles to keep her family intact and to put food on the table. Based on a story by Louisa May Alcott.

Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the “Mayflower” — Nov. 27 at 8am on History. Dramatic reenactments from original source material written by eyewitnesses and participants in the actual events help tell the story of the Mayflower voyage.

“Gone With the Wednesday” — Nov. 27 beginning at 10am on AMC. AMC runs four straight showings of the Oscar-winning 1939 classic Gone With the Wind.

American Pickers Marathon — Nov. 27 from 11am-10pm on History. Several episodes, including a premiere at 9pm.

Charlie Brown Marathon — Nov. 27 beginning at 4pm on ABC Family. A marathon of Peanuts movies Race for Your Life, Charlie BrownSnoopy, Come Home; Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown; and A Boy Named Charlie Brown.

Duck Dynasty Marathon — Nov. 27 from 7pm-4:02am, and Nov. 28 from 6pm-4:02am on A&E.

Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles: “Attack of the Jedi” — Nov. 27 at 8pm on Cartoon Network. The third and final LEGO Star Wars special finds Obi-Wan discovering that several major Sith lords and their apprentices are gathered at the planet of Mustafar. The Jedi must hurry there to destroy the Sith, but — as Admiral Ackbar could have told them — it’s a trap! The Republic fleet is destroyed. Yoda, Anakin and the Padawans travel to Endor to find JEK.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles — Nov. 27 at 8pm on The CW. Steve Martin and John Candy star in John Hughes’ hilarious 1987 comedy about a high-strung ad exec and an overly optimistic shower curtain ring salesman who, by chance, share a three-day odyssey of misadventures trying to get the ad exec home to Chicago from New York City in time for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

The Making of “The Sound of Music Live!” — Nov. 27 at 8pm on NBC. Behind the scenes with Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer and the cast of The Sound of Music Live!, which airs on NBC Dec. 5. Includes a glimpse into casting, rehearsals, and the making of the CD.

Nature: “My Life as a Turkey” — Nov. 27 at 8pm on PBS (check local listings). Based on the true story of writer and naturalist Joe Hutto, portrayed by wildlife photographer Jeff Palmer, this film chronicles Hutto¹s remarkable experience of imprinting wild turkey eggs and raising the hatchlings to adulthood. Deep in the wilds of Florida, Hutto spent each day out and about as a “wild turkey” with his family of chicks ‹ until the day came when he had to let his children grow up and go off on their own. As it turned out, this was harder than he ever imagined.

Last Man Standing: “Thanksgiving” — Nov. 27 at 8:30pm on ABC. It’s Thanksgiving Day in the Baxter house, and Mike’s father, Bud (guest star Robert Forster), takes everyone by surprise when he announces his plans to open a recreational marijuana store. Now, Mike struggles between supporting his dad and questioning the message this new business venture could send to his family.

SNL Thanksgiving — Nov. 27 at 10pm on NBC. A two-hour compilation of memorable Thanksgiving and family-themed moments from Saturday Night Live. Sketches include “Debbie Downer,” “Paul’s Monologue Worries,” “The Ladies’ Man,” “The Bird Family,” “Adam Sandler’s Turkey Song,” “Martha Stewart Living,” “Nikey Turkey,” “Big Kids,” “Fuzzy Memories,” “Ed Grimley’s Thanksgiving,” “Dysfunctional Family Dinner,” “Swerski’s Super Fans’ Thanksgiving,” “The Loud Family” and “Greetings from Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein.”

Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade — Nov. 28 at 6am on Hallmark Channel. Autumn Reeser and Antonio Cupo star in this romantic holiday film, set around the annual Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade.

Swamp People Marathon — Nov. 28 from 7am-6pm on History.

The Thanksgiving House — Nov. 28 at 8am on Hallmark Channel. A woman buys a house in Plymouth, only to discover that the very first Thanksgiving took place on the property. Cerina Vincent, Lindsay Wagner and Bruce Boxleitner star in the film.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS — Nov. 28 live at 9am (tape-delayed PT) on CBS. Kevin Frazier and Thea Andrews co-anchor coverage, featuring portions of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live from New York City, as well as performances by Lady Antebellum. Additional performances featured will include the casts of the Broadway productions Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CinderellaFirst Date and A Night With Janis Joplin.

Thanksgiving Weekend on Comedy Central — Nov. 28 at 9am-Dec. 1 at midnight on Comedy Central. Comedy Central says it will bring four days of its most popular series, stand-up and movies. Thursday will feature a Jeff Dunham block, and Friday will include South Park, stand-up from Gabriel Iglesias and a quadruple batch of Comedy Central Roasts. The weekend will feature movies like Dumb & DumberRole Models and Anger Management, with Sunday including a “mega block” of Tosh.0.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade — Nov. 28 from 9am-noon on NBC. More than 8,000 participants will march through the streets of Manhattan for the 87th installment of this holiday favorite. Hosts Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie will bring viewers the festivities, and celebrities will include the Big Apple Circus, Kristin Chenoweth, Cherokee National Youth Choir, Chica and the gang from Sprout, Cirque du Soleil, Gavin DeGraw, Brett Eldredge, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots with the cast of Sesame Street, Fifth Harmony, Florida Georgia Line, Goo Goo Dolls, Ariana Grande, Jack Hannah, Megan Hilty, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Sandra Lee, Cher Lloyd, Austin Mahone, Mannheim Steamroller, Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri, NFL legends Bart Oates, Amani Toomer and Hines Ward, NHL legends Cam Neely and Mike Richter, as well as Kellie Pickler, The Robertson family from A&Es hit series Duck Dynasty, Debby Ryan, Richard Simmons, and The Summer Set. Enhancing the Parade’s signature entertainment will be the world-famous Radio City Rockettes helping to kick off the holidays, along with performances from Broadway’s best musicals, including Matilda, Motown: The Musical and more. In addition, the first-hour of the national broadcast will feature a special appearance by Carrie Underwood and members of the cast of NBC’s The Sound of Music Live! Making their debuts among the parade’s famed balloons are Finn and Jake of Adventure Time (pictured below); Snoopy and Woodstock; SpongeBob SquarePants; and the dragon Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. There will also be a 47-foot tall giant hot air balloon to mark the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, emblazoned with the characters from the classic film. Additionally, since this is the first time in the parade’s history that Thanksgiving falls on the first night of Hanukkah, a special spinning dreidel balloonicle will spin its way down the route.

Life Below Zero Marathon — Nov. 28 beginning at 9am on NGC. 18 hours of the series.

Cops Marathon — Nov. 28 beginning at 9am on Spike. If you feel like spending Thanksgiving watching police officers bust a bunch of turkeys, you’ll get plenty of opportunities during this 12-hour marathon.

Friends Marathon — Nov. 28 from 10am-5pm on TBS. Marathon includes all 10 Thanksgiving episodes of the series.

Castle Marathon — Nov. 28 from 10am-11pm on TNT.

“Thanksgiving With Your Godfather” — Nov. 28 beginning at 11:30am on AMC. Two back-to-back showings of The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974) take up most of Thanksgiving Day on AMC.

Monster Fish Marathon — Nov. 28 beginning at 12pm on Nat Geo Wild.

National Dog Show — Nov. 28 at 12pm on NBC (replay Nov. 30 at 8pm). John Hurley and analyst David Frei host, and Mary Carillo reports from the benching area and inside the show ring, during this Kennel Club of Philadelphia event that showcases some 1,500 purebred canines.

NFL Football: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions — Nov. 28 at 12:30pm on FOX.

Harry Potter Marathon — Nov. 28-30 on ABC Family (beginning Nov. 28 at 1pm). A three-day marathon of the Harry Potter movies, concluding with the network TV premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Nov. 30 at 8pm.

Prospectors Marathon — Nov. 28 from 2-4pm; Nov. 29 from 2-8pm on The Weather Channel. 

Family Game Night Marathon — Nov. 28 from 3-6pm on The Hub Network.

NFL Football: Oakland Raiders at Dallas Cowboys — Nov. 28 at 4:30pm on CBS. 

Home for the Holidays Movie Marathon — Nov. 28 from 6pm-midnight on The Hub Network. Six hours of family movies including Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey and Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving — Nov. 28 at 8pm on ABC. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this 1973 Peanuts special that finds Charlie Brown wanting to do something special for the gang. However, the dinner he arranges is a disaster when the caterers, Snoopy and Woodstock, prepare toast and popcorn as the main dish. It will take all of Marcie’s persuasive powers to salvage the holiday for a humiliated Charlie Brown. Following this half-hour special is a bonus cartoon from Charles M. Schulz called This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers.

A Mary Christmas — Nov. 28 at 8pm on Revolt TV. “A Mary Christmas” features Mary J. Blige as she shares her take on Christmas classics, along with special guest Tyrese and host Queen Latifah. R&B singer Tyrese will join Mary for a special performance with legendary musical director David Foster. Mary will sing classics from “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” to a rendition of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Joined by a live orchestra and choir arranged by music director Kim Burse, the special will debut on Thanksgiving night with additional encore performances throughout the weekend on Revolt.

The Crazy Ones Mini-Marathon — Nov. 28 at 8:31pm on CBS. On Thanksgiving night, CBS is airing three back-to-back rebroadcasts of its new hit comedy The Crazy Ones.

Glee: “Puppet Master” — Nov. 28 at 9pm on FOX. In an all-new Thanksgiving night episode, Blaine believes he has the best plan to win Nationals, but he doesn’t take the glee club’s criticism too well when the students accuse him of being too controlling. Over in New York, Kurt also runs into control issues when the band disagrees over the venue of their first official gig that Kurt booked. Meanwhile, Sue reveals the story behind her iconic tracksuit and gets in touch with her feminine side.

Lady Gaga & The Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular — Nov. 28 at 9:30pm on ABC. This 90-minute special airs on Thanksgiving night and features pop superstar Lady Gaga teaming with the lovable Muppets to sing holiday favorites and Lady Gaga hits. Gaga will perform songs from her new album, ARTPOP, and other performance highlights will include a duet between Lady Gaga and Kermit the Frog, a rendition of Gaga’s “Applause” with special Muppet guests and performance duets with Sir Elton John, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and RuPaul, Kristen Bell appears in a special sketch alongside the Muppets and Lady Gaga. Additionally, the Swedish Chef, Beaker and Animal will perform Muppet renditions of the holiday classics “Deck the Halls” and “Jingle Bells.” The program will also feature a sneak peek of the upcoming film Muppets Most Wanted, premiering in theaters March 2014.

Hitchcock Marathon — Nov. 29 beginning at 9am on AMC. AMC actually goes back to its roots as American Movie Classics with 11 hours of films from the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, including Vertigo, Rear Window, Psycho and a 50th anniversary presentation of The Birds.

Shrek Movies Marathon — Nov. 29 beginning at 9:45am on TBS. ShrekShrek 2 and Shrek the Third.

NHL Hockey: New York Rangers at Boston Bruins — Nov. 29 at 1pm on NBC.

Day After Thanksgiving Movie Marathon — Nov. 29 beginning at 1pm on TNT. Various movies, including 300 and the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Star Wars Marathons — Nov. 29 from 2pm-12:30am; Nov. 30 from 12pm-1:30am on Spike. Nov. 29, Spike airs the three Star Wars prequels; Nov. 30, the network again airs those three, plus Episode IV.

Black Friday Holiday Extravaganza Movie Marathon — Nov. 29 from 4-10pm on The Hub Network. Movies including the network premiere of The Dog Who Saved the Holidays.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas — Nov. 29 at 8pm on ABC. This is the classic, beloved 1966 animated adaptation of the Seuss favorite, featuring Boris Karloff as the voice of the Grinch and the narrator, and June Foray as Cindy Lou Who.

hoops&yoyo Ruin Christmas — Nov. 29 at 8pm on CBS. The comical pink kitty and green bunny team become accidental stowaways aboard Santa’s sleigh.

Shrek the Halls — Nov. 29 at 8:30pm on ABC. This DreamWorks animated special starring the lovable ogre (voiced by Mike Myers) finds everyone filled with holiday cheer on Christmas Eve — except for Shrek. He tries to get into the spirit of things but everyone seems to have their own ideas about what Christmas is all about. Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas also lend their voices to this 2007 special.

The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf’s Story — Nov. 29 at 8:30pm on CBS. A rebroadcast of the animated feature based on the best-selling holiday children’s book The Elf on the Shelf.

Garth Brooks, Live From Las Vegas — Nov. 29 live at 9pm (tape-delayed PT) on CBS. This live concert special features Garth Brooks’ final performance of his one-man show at the Wynn Las Vegas, which has played to sold-out audiences for the past three years.

Man v. Cheetah — Nov. 29 at 9pm on Nat Geo Wild. Nat Geo Wild’s annual Big Cat Week kicks off with this special that pits NFL stars Chris Johnson and Devin Hester in a race against the cheetah, the fastest land animal, to see who will win.

Seagal Saturday Blowout — Nov. 30 beginning at 11am on AMC. Steven Seagal shoots and beats up people over 13 hours of his most memorable movies, including Exit Wounds, Under Siege and Hard to Kill.

Premier League Soccer: Newcastle vs. West Brom — Nov. 30 at 12:30pm on NBC.

College Football: The Bayou Classic — Southern University vs. Grambling State — Nov. 30 at 2:30pm on NBC.

The Flight Before Christmas — Nov. 30 at 8pm on CBS. This animated holiday special is about a young reindeer with ambitions of becoming an expert flyer like his father. Features the voices of Emma Roberts and Norm MacDonald.

Let It Snow — Nov. 30 at 8pm on Hallmark Channel. When a family-owned ski lodge is sold to a hotel conglomerate, a driven hotel executive (Candace Cameron Bure, Full House) must decide if she should follow the company orders to transform the lodge into a modern winter hot spot, or embrace her newfound holiday spirit and keep its Christmas traditions alive.

The Story of Santa Claus — Nov. 30 at 9pm on CBS. Edward Asner, Betty White and Tim Curry are featured voices in this animated musical holiday special about a gentle toymaker whose only wish is to deliver a toy to every child on Christmas.

Bob’s Burgers: “An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal” — Dec. 1 at 7pm on FOX. It’s Bob’s favorite holiday of all time, and this year he is determined to make it the most memorable Thanksgiving ever.
