TLC to air updated Say Yes To The Cure: Lori’s Fight Oct. 4

In honor of next month’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TLC has announced that it will air an updated version of Say Yes to the Cure: Lori’s Fight, the Oct. 2012 special that documented Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta and Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids star Lori Allen’s battle with breast cancer.

Viewers will be able to relive moments from the emotional original special, plus receive updates from Lori and her family on her current progress, and the inspiring response Allen has received from the shows’ fans.

“Some days I thought, ‘Oh, gosh, do I have to film this? I don’t want to film this!’ Allen told us last year. “But then I realized that this has got to be told. This story needs to be told. During this year alone over 200,000 women are going to be diagnosed with cancer. I’m just one of the faces of these 200,000 women who are going to be diagnosed with cancer. But my platform is, I’m able to tell the story and maybe help them. Maybe this will just hold their hand a little bit.”

The special will also continue the saga of Allen’s fellow breast cancer survivor Delese Range, whom viewers met as she shopped at Bridals by Lori for a gown in which to renew her wedding vows.

Since the original airing, Range’s cancer returned, but the news doesn’t dampen her spirits as she prepares for her special day with Lori in the congregations cheering her on.

The specially updated version of Say Yes to the Cure: Lori’s Fight will premiere Friday, Oct. 4, at 8/7CT on TLC.
