Minute to Win It

Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno hosts GSN’s new incarnation of Minute to Win It (premiering Tuesday, June 25, at 8pm ET/PT), the game show that ran on NBC from 2010-11. In each one-hour episode, competitors face 10 challenges that escalate in level of difficulty using everyday household items. Contestants are eliminated if they fail to finish the task within one minute. At various points throughout the game, competitors can walk away with the money they’ve already earned, or they can decide to risk it all by trying to complete all 10 tasks to win $250,000. New episodes will air back to back every Tuesday night from 8-10pm ET/PT.

Post-Podium Plunge
Not satisfied with being stars for two weeks every four years, some Olympians won’t step out of the spotlight. Michael Phelps on GOLF CHANNEL, Ryan Lochte on E!, and Apolo Ohno hosting GSN’s new Minute to Win It are recent examples of athletes trying to break into showbiz. Clearly they did not consult these less-than-entertaining Olympians:

5. Tonya Harding The notorious figure skater’s appearance on FOX’s Celebrity Boxing launching a short-lived career in the ring, but her tour de force remains her “wedding night” video.

4. Carol Heiss This U.S. figure skater won gold at the 1960 Winter Games, then starred in her lone film, the career-killing Snow White and the Three Stooges.

3. Mitch Gaylord A gold medalist at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Gaylord starred as a gymnast in 1986’s American Anthem, earning him a Razzie nomination for Worst New Star.

2. Carl Lewis Google “Carl Lewis music video” or “Carl Lewis national anthem.” You’re welcome.

1. Bruce Jenner After winning the decathlon gold medal in 1976, Jenner reached for the stars but ended up in Can’t Stop the Music. Since 2007, he’s appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians as a broken shell of a man.
