“Steve Harvey” daytime show renewed through 2016

NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution announced that Steve Harvey, the hit daytime syndicated television show hosted by Harvey, has been sold through 2016 to station groups across the country, including NBC owned television stations. The show had already been renewed for a second season, and it will now be extended for additional seasons through 2016 in more than 65% of the U.S. to date.

“Steve is one of the best entertainers in the country and his first season has been a tremendous success because of the personal connection he makes with the daytime audience,” said Ted Harbert, Chairman, NBC Broadcasting. “It’s so great to see Steve’s very funny and substantive show being rewarded with long-term commitments from our station partners.”

Since its premiere in Fall 2012, Steve Harvey has become very popular and successful. In the recent May 2013 sweep, Steve Harvey was the No. 1 new first-run show with Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 nationally, and was the only new show to build over its lead-in and improve the year-ago time period, according to a NBCUniversal Television Distribution release.

The release also mentions that across metered markets in May, Steve Harvey was up over its lead-in by +24% in households, and +25% with Women 25-54. Compared to the May 2012 time period ratings, Steve Harvey showed +44% increases in households, and was up +42% with Women 25-54.

Harvey was also chosen as Favorite New Talk Show Host at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards, and Steve Harvey has received two nominations for the upcoming 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

“Steve Harvey’s engaging, funny and warm style has been a hit with our audiences, and we couldn’t be happier to continue our partnership with Steve and his great team,” said Valari Staab, President, NBC Owned Television Stations. “Steve Harvey has strengthened our daytime lineups and proven to be a strong lead in to Ellen and, in turn, our local newscasts.”

David Goldberg, Chairman and CEO, Endemol North America, which produces the show, said, “The sale of the show through 2016 is a testimony to its popularity, the immense talent of Steve Harvey and his ability to resonate with a broad and diverse daytime audience.”
