Oscars 2013 red carpet coverage, date, time, TV channel is a question we frequently get asked, so below we’ve detailed all the events leading up to the 85th Annual Academy Awards set to air live on ABC Sunday, Feb. 24 at 8:30pm. But long before any of golden statuettes are handed out, thousands of entertainment journalists and fans converge along the red carpet to get a glimpse at the stars as they arrive. E! is your place to start your Oscar viewing with the earliest of coverage.
E! Live Red Carpet Coverage
The network known for their red carpet coverage, E! Entertainment, will be first to the party broadcasting live beginning at 1:30pm ET/10:30am PT with their Countdown to the Red Carpet show. E!’s entire on-air team will be reporting from sites throughout Hollywood. Segments included in the Countdown to the Red Carpet include The Hangover‘s Crystal the monkey and a live tiger who stops by to pay homage to his breed’s starring role in Life of Pi; Jennifer Lawrence’s personal The Hunger Games archery trainer with some tips on hitting the bullseye; Victoria’s Secret’s Alessandra Ambrosio; and Shake It Up‘s Bella Thorne and friends, who hit one of Tinseltown’s hottest nail salons for manicures inspired by some of the Red Carpet’s most iconic gowns. Immediately following, Ryan Seacrest will be front and center again for Live From The Red Carpet, which starts at 5:30pm ET/2:30pm PT and leads up to the start of the Academy Awards. Seacrest will be catching up with the stars as they make their way into the Dolby Theater, while Giuliana Rancic holds court at The Roosevelt Hotel with Kelly Osbourne, playing host to a number of special guests including Style Network star and fashion icon Kimora Lee Simmons, Fandango’s Oscar handicapper Karger, celebrity stylists and more. And Ross will provide ongoing reports, with input from Kelly, from his perch in E!’s Sky Box, located high above all the red carpet action. E! will continue reporting immediately following the awards with their “After Party” coverage that airs 11:30pm-1am ET/8:30pm-10pm PT. The After Party will include a recap of all the awards and give viewers access to the hottest parties.

As guests arrive for the 85th Academy Awards ceremony Lara Spencer, Jess Cagle, Kristin Chenoweth and Kelly Rowland will be there to greet them as hosts of ABC’s live Oscar Red Carpet preview show beginning at 7pm ET/4pm PT.

Online ABC has additional coverage where Academy Award nominees, presenters and performers will also be greeted by entertainment and sports reporter Chris Connelly. This will be Connelly’s first stint as the Academy’s Red Carpet greeter. Connelly’s celebrity chats will be streamed live in the Backstage Pass on Oscar.com and on the official Oscars App. The interviews will also be audible to the bleacher fans and arriving guests.
MTV Live Online Red Carpet Coverage
The music network also is vested in red carpet coverage Oscars 2013. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz and VH1’s Janell Snowden will be hosting a two-hour live-stream special from the Oscars red carpet beginning at 5:30pm ET on MTV.com. The duo promises to be chatting with all of the hot celebrities in attendance (Jennifer Lawrence, Best Actress nominee for Silver Linings Playbook, as well as her costar Bradley Cooper, are among them); in addition they will be asking questions from fans via Twitter using @MTVNews, @JoshuaHorowitz and @JanellSnowden and hashtag #OscarNightLive.
