All-Star Celebrity Apprentice 2013 returns with Busey, Adkins, Omarosa

At the TCA Winter Press Tour panel for All-Star Celebrity Apprentice 2013, returning to NBC March 3, Trace Adkins told TV critics, “It took my house burning down to get me to come back to Celebrity Apprentice.”

And he was serious. Adkins shared that in June 2011 while he was in Alaska doing a show, his home burnt down and at that time of crisis the Red Cross stepped in and was there to help his family. “The Red Cross showed up, took care of my family, and it really touched me.  And I was ashamed of myself that I didn’t know that the Red Cross responded to house fires,” Adkins says. It was his gratitude to the Red Cross that inspired him to participate in another season, where the winning apprentice is guaranteed a $250,000 bonus check for their charity of choice.

Adkins and 13 other celebs return for a sixth installment of The Celebrity Apprentice and 13th installment overall of the series. The colorful roster of fan favorites include Adkins, Stephen Baldwin, Gary Busey, Marilu Henner, Penn Jillette, Lil Jon, Omarosa, Lisa Rinna, La Toya Jackson, Claudia Jordan, Bret Michaels, Brande Roderick, Dennis Rodman and Dee Snider.

It took Lil Jon some convincing to return as well. “I ain’t coming back,” Jon said about when producers first approached him. “Hell no! I’m not coming back.” It took a family situation involving his mother’s health and her struggles with diabetes that made him reconsider. He joins the cast in hopes of bringing awareness to the disease.

As for the free-spirited and always unpredictable Gary Busey, he plays for a foundation near and dear to his heart — the Busey Foundation for Children’s Kawasaki Disease Education and Research,  which he established in 2012 when his son Luke was diagnosed with it. But Busey candidly added: “I didn’t have anything else to do.”

Busey also shared that he holds no hard feelings against Meatloaf from the previous season. “No. Not at all. I never ate meatloaf anyway,” he joked. “No, you know, those things that happened in the past are gone now, so why carry a memory of darkness or carry a memory of combat, emotional, spiritual, mental or physical, with you? Because it does you no good. It just holds you back. Meatloaf is a great guy, great artist, wonderful man.  I respect him very much.”

Conflict in this season comes between Omarosa and Piers Morgan. Morgan returns as an adviser. “He said he came back this season solely to torture me, and that’s all he did for episode after episode, and it’s authentic,” Omarosa said. “He’s a mean, nasty, vile person. … He was so nasty. I’m not exaggerating.”

But Omarosa also called out Stephen Baldwin as a villain in the new season. “He came in on day one — you knew his mind was kind of turning. You knew who he was trying to strategize to get out, and you knew what his approach was,” Omarosa said. “Steve Baldwin will stab you in the front as opposed to the back.”

Just the type of competition that makes the series fun. All-Star Celebrity Apprentice returns March 3 on NBC.

  1. Conflict ALWAYS comes with Omarosa that’s why she’s there Piers and “Rev” Omarsosa will be very good theater, and I would think Penn would get into it with her too. Marilu Henner is the most BORING white woman and actress EVER so, no thanks to that part of the show.

  2. I saw a preview of this version of Celebrity Apprentice over the weekend, and it looks like it’ll be full of drama with so many of my favorites coming back! Some of my DISH coworkers said that conflict always comes with Omarosa, but I am nervous and excited to see what Gary Busey will do this season. I just started working nights, but I’ll keep up with this show because it’ll be recorded on my DISH Hopper through PrimeTime Anytime. I won’t need to set a timer for The Apprentice since my DVR automatically records three hours of the four major networks during primetime.
