Taylor Swift celebrates 23rd birthday by premiering 23rd music video on MTV

It’s a weeklong party on MTV in celebration of singing star Taylor Swift’s 23rd birthday this Thursday, Dec. 13. The festivities, beginning today, Dec. 10, culminate on Thursday, her actual birthday, with the premiere of her 23rd music video — “I Knew You Were Trouble,” the third single from her No. 1 album Red — during MTV First: Taylor Swift Dec. 13 at 4:40pm ET.

Shot over two days in and around Los Angeles, the video features Swift playing the character of a girl completely drawn in by her attraction to a guy (Reeve Carney) with a beautiful smile and big personality. But he has a dark side, and Swift’s character loses herself in the guy and in the relationship, becoming part of his dark world. She eventually sees that she has lost herself and has learned her lesson.

“As soon as I started writing this song, I knew it was different from anything else on the record, so I knew that I wanted the video to be different from anything we’d ever done,” says Swift. “I wanted to tell the story of a girl who falls into a world that’s too fast for her, and suffers the consequences.”
