Today is a very, very exciting episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Why is that? It’s because Janice Dickinson one of the guest judges this week. If anyone reading this was also a fan of America’s Next Top Model, you’ll know why having the First Supermodel of the World is such a treat. Sorry Rachel Dratch. Love you too but I expect to see Janice crawling on the desk with her butt in the air any minute. Anything less will be disappointing. I also want her to tell the queens not to sell her bitches out.

Today’s mini-challenge is to create butch male realness – #QueensWithGuyPhones – and they’ve got 10 minutes to do it. Chad’s realness involves a lot of makeup to look like dirt, along with quoting Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. Latrice sees cameras & thinks “No, bitch!”  Jujubee tells Raven to think about hockey to get in the mood. It doesn’t really work. Yarlexis wins the challenge – again. They gets a subscription to the underwear of the month club, which the pit crew model for us.

Queens Behaving Badly is the larger challenge – they need to go on the street & pull off pranks on unsuspecting bystanders. One contestant is on the street; the other is directing from afar through an earpiece. The most outrageous stunt wins – the crazier the stunt, the more points each team gets. Manila is scared because drag & daytime don’t really go together.

We’re on the street! Raven is on the street in a pink afro and she can’t get anyone to stop. When she does she ends up feeding a stranger grapes and gets a guy to take his shirt off. Jujubee does a lot — she got a guy to agree to have whipped cream down his pants, got a guy to smack her with a foam hand.

And then Manila is out on the street. She gets a woman to put a diaper on & cry for her mommy. Latrice does not have such an easy time – every time Manila gives her a task the item she needs is at the bottom of the garbage can of props. Manila – reset your props for your teammate, girl or pick something from the top of the can! Latrice leaves us with my new favorite Latrice-ism: “Good from afar, far from good.” Aw, Latrice you’re all good.

Yara Sofia does not have an easy time of it – it seems like no one will stop for her. Maybe it’s the way she says “Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii” to everyone that passes by. Toward the end of her 10 minutes she appears to only get one prank in. Alexis Mateo is up next and goes on a roll, doing much better than Yara.

Shannel also kills it – she gets people to crack eggs on their head, eats & laps water out of their hand. Chad also does well – group hugs, squirting whipped cream in their mouths. Shannel & Chad also seem to be the best at improvising – when 3 people are around their partner, they quick change plans and pick another prank that needs 3 people.

Time for the runway in their best bad-girl chic. Getting ready they discuss the butch challenge & societies expectation of them as men. It’s a discussion I’ve heard women have, it’s interesting hearing it from gay men.

Team Rujubee’s outfits are very high-fashion bad girls. Chad is giving punk rock Carol Brady – they’re Vegas bad girls. Yarlexis bad girls are hairy. Latrice is serving Divine realness while Manila is channeling The Seventh Seal crossed with Christina Ricci.

Team Shannel wins this week’s challenge & some fun shoes as a prize. Ru asks them to name the team that should go home & she won’t accept no Miss America answer. They answer Yarlexis because Yara has been carrying the team.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Episode 3 winning team

They aren’t the only team that has to answer that question. Jujubee also says Team Yarlexis. Alexis thinks team Latrila should go home. Latrice Royal also thinks Team Yarlexis should go. Should be an interesting Untucked to come.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Episode 3 bottom teams

Yarlexis is safe, which means Team Latrila and Rujubee is up for elimination. It’s Jujubee vs. Manila in the lip-synch to Nasty by Janet Jackson. Manila decides to go the crazy route with her lip-synch towards the end. It does not work for her. Latrice and Manila are out of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Like most contestants on this show, they’re going home too early.

This episode is over and I didn’t see Janice crawl on anything or anyone. That’s disappointing. Untucked gives us a small sample of the Dickinson craziness, but even that’s a little disappointing.

Hey fans! If you’ve been watching the show, you’ve seen Mike Ruiz’s pieces on the Ali Forney Center. Their drop-in center was destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. If you’ve got anything else to give, you might want to consider making a donation to the Center.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 episode 9 recap

April 27, 2015 Ruth Boulet Reality TV, Recap 5

After the conjoined twin drama, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 episode 9 opens with some shade-throwing at Trixie Mattel. The other girls were initially happy that Trixie came back, but now the realization that there’s another competitor is sinking in. Poor Jaidynn Diore Fierce doesn’t even get so much as a mention. We learn early on that this is the John Waters episode. For the main challenge, the girls will be doing musical versions of famous John Waters movie scenes. Yes, it’s another team challenge. But first we’ve got time for a mini-challenge. The mini-challenge. It’s time for the children […]

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 Finale recap

June 1, 2015 Ruth Boulet Reality TV, Recap 18

The RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 Finale begins with a re-introduction of all the queens. It’s nice that each queen gets to walk the catwalk – and they all look great.   When Ru herself is introduced, she even lipsynchs a little bit to her song The Realness. She talked a little bit about possibly touring on her podcast, What’s the T. Maybe this is a sample? After the introductions, we learn that the top 3 queens have all been asked to prepare yet another lipsynch to help Ru make her decision. Songs have been created especially for this performance. […]
