Psych wins Best Laugh-Out-Loud Comedy in Channel Guide’s 2012 Viewer’s Voice Awards

PsychWhat happens when you mix one part standard-issue police procedural, a touch of Sherlock Holmes and USA Network’s talent for creating colorful, serio-comedic characters? A recipe for AWESOMENESS called Psych that’s what.

USA’s long-running original comedy series Psych follows the adventures of a snarky fake psychic detective and his uptight sidekick, as they solve crimes in wonderfully over-the-top fashion. Stars James Roday and Dulé Hill have a natural chemistry, playing off each other as if they’ve literally been friends since childhood. The two are surrounded by an endearing cast of talented performers, including Roday’s real-life girlfriend Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Timothy Omundson.

Psych is a fantastic buddy comedy, full of razor-sharp dialogue spiked with pop culture references and lots of laughs. And that’s one you haven’t heard both ways.

Psych returns for Season 7 on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, on USA Network. The seventh season will explore Gus’ personal life, feature the wedding of one of the main characters and deliver new “Psych-isms” crafted for the series’ fans. Parminder Nagra will recur as Gus’ girlfriend, exposing his romantic side and creating jealousy with Shawn. Additional guests will include Katy Mixon, Garcelle Beauvais, Jeffrey Tambor, WWE’s Big Show, as well as the returns of Cybill Shepherd and Kristy Swanson. To celebrate the series’ 100th episode, Psych will host a mini-reunion of the 1985 movie Clue featuring original cast members Christopher Lloyd, Lesley Ann Warren and Martin Mull. The long-awaited, two-part Psych: The Musical — a nod to the colorful world of musical theater — will showcase original songs written by show creator Steve Franks and performed by the entire cast with a host of guest stars including Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons and Anthony Rapp.

With a strong upcoming season like this, it looks like Psych is already in strong contention to be the Viewer’s Voice winner in this category again next year!
