Our Longest Drive on GOLF CHANNEL follows three men on journey to the Arctic Circle to play one last round of golf in honor of their deceased friend.
GOLF CHANNEL presents a unique six-part series called Our Longest Drive , following three longtime golfing buddies on an RV road trip to the Arctic Circle to play one last round of golf in honor of their deceased friend. Oh, yeah, and the deceased friend makes it a foursome — the wooden box containing his ashes is along for the ride. The friends, all past retirement age, played golf together Saturday mornings in Willmette, Ill., for more than 20 years. One of them, Mike Allen, passed away, and with the other three having health issues of their own, they decide to embark on a 5,500-mile journey in an RV through seven U.S. states, two Canadian provinces and two Canadian territories to play golf together one last time. “It was much more than just a trip or an adventure. It was a way for us to connect with the game we love and with each other,” says Vic Zast, the group’s ringleader who came up with the idea. “It was a living metaphor for where we were in our lives. It was traveling 5,500 miles to where the road ends … to a place where you can play golf in the endless light at midnight of the longest day. So, we had to do it.” Our Longest Drive turns into a heartfelt and often humorous exploration of friendship, loss and discovery. Our Longest Drive premieres Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10:30pm ET on GOLF CHANNEL.
