SNL spoofs Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo, Katie Couric gets her reaction

Saturday Night Live‘s spoof on Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo was seriously dead on. SNL‘s Kate McKinnon as a thinner Caputo was hilarious, from her bleach blonde hair to those look-a-like prized nails and copycat wardrobe – she had the medium pegged. McKinnon, also a native of Long Island, easily picked up Caputo’s Jersey accent and attitude and drove it home – the group reading where the entire room responded to having a grandfather named Sal was great, as well as the annoyed woman at the grocery store getting an impromptu reading from Theresa. SNL guest star Daniel Craig was the perfect pick for Caputo’s tattooed husband Larry.

Today, Katie Couric welcomed Caputo on her show and got her reaction to SNL‘s segment. Caputo told Katie that SNL only made one mistake in their parody: “I didn’t think they got my hair high enough.” Valid point, as Caputo is known for adding a few extra inches of tease and a half can of hairspray to hold it. No surprise that Caputo was a great sport about mocking her talent. “I was like, ‘Oh my God! SNL? About me, really?’ And then when I saw it, I was like ‘Oh my God this is incredible.’ It was so funny that I shared it with everyone.”

  1. I think she has stronger telepathic ability than the average Joe,but it ends there. P.T. Barnum would have loved her. She has a wonderful persona for the camera and natural chemistry with her family. Watching the circus she attracts weekly is just “extra.” I consider it a social experiment on group psychology, playing on what people want to hear. Yet, for now I *ulp* love the show.
