Dog and Beth Chapman returning to reality television on CMT

Today, CMT announced that it has greenlighted Dog (working title), a new unscripted series that marks the TV return of Duane Chapman (a.k.a. “Dog the Bounty Hunter”) and his wife, Beth Chapman. The show will follow the two as they help fellow bail bondsmen and bounty hunters struggling to catch fugitives on the lam. CMT says it has ordered 10, one-hour episodes. Dog and Beth will star in and executive-produce the series, which is set to begin production early next year and premiere spring/summer 2013 on CMT.

Following the end of their hit series Dog the Bounty Hunter earlier this year, the new series Dog will showcase the next chapter in the lives of Dog and Beth, as they concentrate more on the bail industry as a whole, helping other mom-and-pop bail bond agencies that are facing extinction due to bad legislation, untrained or ineffective bounty hunters or bad decisions. Dog and Beth launch a national education and fugitive finding mission as they cross the country training bounty hunters while looking for fugitives.

“This series is a game changer for CMT,” says Jayson Dinsmore, EVP of development and programming for the network. “We were aggressive in our pursuit of a show featuring Dog and Beth, one of the most bankable teams in television history.”
