Where to watch the 2012 Democratic National Convention

With the Republican National Convention winding down, it’s the Democrats’ turn to gather, with the Democratic National Convention taking place in Charlotte Sept. 4-6. There they are expected to formally nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for a second term as President and Vice President of the United States. While there may be less drama than what transpired at the RNC (which had the threat of a hurricane, outbursts from Ron Paul supporters, etc.) you just never can tell what may happen. Several news outlets will be on hand to cover what does take place, and here’s where you can watch.

Among the notable headliners expected to speak at the convention are:

Congresswoman from Wisconsin Tammy Baldwin; Newark Mayor Cory Booker; former President Jimmy Carter (via video); San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro (first Latino keynote speaker at a Democratic National Convention); former President Bill Clinton (who will formally nominate President Obama); Assistant Democratic Leader and Congressman from South Carolina James Clyburn; former Republican Governor of Florida Charlie Crist; Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel; Georgetown Law School graduate Sandra Fluke; president of NARAL Pro-Choice America Nancy Keenan; Caroline Kennedy; Congresswoman from California Barbara Lee; actress and Obama Campaign co-chair Eva Longoria; U.S. Senator from Massachusetts John Kerry; women’s rights activist and namesake of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, Lilly Ledbetter; Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley; First Lady Michelle Obama; Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick; House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi; actor/producer Kal Penn; Illinois Governor Pat Quinn; Democratic Majority Leader and Senator from Nevada Harry Reid; president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund Cecile Richards; Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; Senate candidate from Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren; DNC Chair Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz

President Obama and Vice President Biden will accept the Democratic nominations on Sept. 6, and the president will give his acceptance speech on that date.
