Kelly Ripa’s new “LIVE!” co-host will officially debut on Sept. 4

After months of anticipation and speculation, fans of LIVE! With Kelly will finally get the answer to who will replace Regis Philbin as Kelly Ripa’s partner on the syndicated daytime talker on Sept. 4. According to a release today, when Ripa walks into the LIVE! studio that morning, she’ll be joined by her new partner, and LIVE! With Kelly will become LIVE With Kelly and [????]

On Nov. 21, 2011, LIVE! With Kelly debuted, following the departure of Philbin, and in the following months, 59 different men and women sat next to Ripa at the co-host desk, top personalities from every area of broadcasting and entertainment. According to the release, one individual from that group has been tapped to fill the new co-host role.

Ripa’s season actually will kick off on Sept. 3, when she hosts the show solo for the first time. Then, on Sept. 4, she and the new co-host will officially begin helming the show together, joined by guests Claire Danes (Homeland), and 2012 American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, making his LIVE! performance debut. LIVE! airs in syndication weekdays; check local listings for channel and airtime in your area.

Any guesses or opinions on who the new co-host will/should be?

UPDATE 9/4/2012: Although it had been rumored for awhile, ABC officially announced today that Michael Strahan would be Ripa’s permanent co-host starting with the Sept. 4 broadcast.
