Updated! “America’s Most Wanted” makes three captures since Lifetime debut

Lifetime has announced that America’s Most Wanted — John Walsh’s venerable crime-fighting series, which was dropped by FOX last June  — has garnered its first captures since being picked up for a 25th season by the female-skewing network in December.

Antonio Barnes and Earl Jackson — who’d been on the lam since an Oct. 2009 shootout in Washington, DC, that killed two people and injured five — were apprehended Jan. 14 in Charlotte, N.C., after an AMW viewer saw them on the show’s Jan. 6 episode and called its information tip line. Multiple local and federal law enforcement agencies were involved in the arrest, which was captured by American’s Most Wanted film crews.

“Our fans did not let us down, proving that our show is a true American institution and a reckoning force,”said Walsh in a statement released by Lifetime. “After such a tremendous response to our return to television on Lifetime, now more than ever, we’re committed to bringing these cases to viewers across America so they can put criminals behind bars. We know this double capture is the first of many and we’ll keep helping those crime victims that need us the most.”

“Once again, America’s Most Wanted proves it’s a true public service,” added Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President of Programming for Lifetime. “Lifetime is so proud that we can provide this vital programming for our viewers, assist in these captures and help make this country a safer place.”

Today, Lifetime reported that another accused killer featured on the same episode as Jackson and Barnes is now behind bars.

Reggie Boston was wanted in connection with the May 15, 2010, murder of a man in Milwaukee, Wisc, after four friends’ night on the town turned tragic. Boston, the prime suspect in the crime fled Milwaukee. After America’s Most Wanted profiled his case on the Jan. 6, 2012 episode, Boston surrendered  without incident to the Richmond, Indiana, Police Department on Jan. 23.  America’s Most Wanted will feature the news of Boston’s surrender in an upcoming February episode on Lifetime.

“Our Lifetime viewers have come through in a huge way — three accused murderers caught off of one show,” Walsh added.  “I ask our fans to make a difference, and boy, have they this week!”
