Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, founders of the Funny or Die website, and the creative forces behind hit comedies such as Step Brothers and The Other Guys, are always on the lookout for new talent and now bring us their latest discovery in The Virginity Hit.
The Virginity Hit is down-and-dirty filmmaking — four guys, one camera and their experience chronicling the exhilarating and terrifying rite of passage: the loss of one’s virginity. As these guys help their buddy try to find sex, they have to survive friends with benefits, Internet hookups and even porn stars during a wild adventure.
At the film’s premiere in Los Angeles, McKay said that there is more to this film than just a “teens trying to get laid” premise.
“It’s funny. We’re selling the movie now and suddenly it’s become a ‘lose your virginity’ movie. When we were doing it, we never thought of it as that. It was more about a group of teens who were friends kind of having adventures. But then you know you have to sell a movie and suddenly it becomes a ‘losing your virginity’ movie. But I just tell people, ‘If you think it’s just that, you are missing the big picture.’ It’s such a cool, original, unique movie. It sort of blends reality and documentary more than anything I’ve ever seen, because a lot of it is real. These guys really did live in a house together; they became good friends. There’s footage in the movie from them hanging out. And it’s artfully done. These guys are really amazing directors.”
“The Virginity Hit” is now showing on Video On Demand. Check your cable system for availability.
