FUSE GOES ON THE RECORD WITH KID ROCK

“Kid Rock: On The Record With Fuse” Premieres Friday, November 12 at 7pm ET

New York, NY (November 10, 2010) – Fuse, Madison Square Garden’s national music television network, sits down with American singer-songwriter and rapper, Kid Rock.  Premiering on Friday, November 12 at 7pm ET, Kid Rock goes one-on-one with Fuse host Toure’ for a candid conversation about his new album Born Free dropping on November 16, his influences, growing up in Detroit, his thoughts about Steven Tyler and “American Idol” and what it would be like to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The following are selected sound bites from the interview:

When asked about partying and performing:
Kid Rock: “I can say I balance my life pretty well.  I’ve never been back and forth to rehab, I’ve done it all – there is no question about it – I still play around a little bit here and there but I always try to balance it out. It’s not the drugs and the partying that get people so much, it’s the fame.”

On when he first fell in love with hip hop:
“It was probably RUN D.M.C. Hip hop culture stung me as a kid, I was the only white kid getting beat up at every concert that came to Detroit.”

On “American Idol”:
“I’m just conflicted with that whole system. I don’t knock the kids for going on American Idol, they’re just trying to be stars, get their music career. But I disagree with the process of grabbing these kids before got to experience some things and get some chops, get some scars, get some feel, hit some clubs, learn how to write a song, get kicked out a few times. You launch these kids in to the limelight and they don’t have the training for it. And I don’t think there’s any bigger curse in life than to be famous with no money. I think that’s the devil’s work. I think this sets a lot of those kids up for that.”

When asked about the potential of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame someday:

“I think that would be a great accolade. Because I don’t feel like there’s a lot of politics involved in it. Sure there might be a little; I think it’s a pretty honest thing and I think it’s a big accolade to be in the rock n’ roll hall of fame … The rock and roll hall of fame — I dig that man. That’s great company. You’re amongst great company. That can never be a bad thing. My dad always said if you want to be a painter, don’t hang out with a carpenter.”
