US Ties Slovenia 2-2

The US team tied for the second time in the tournament against Group C leader Slovenia.

After going down 2-0 in the first half, the US men mounted an intense second-half comeback. Landon Donovan put a cheeky shot past the keeper a few minutes into the half. Michael Bradley scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute, making history as the first player to score in a World Cup on a team coached by his father.

A third goal by Maurice Edu in the 85th minute was disallowed by referee Koman Coulibaly. That questionable call by the Malian ref – in his first ever World Cup match – was among many, including a harsh yellow card on Robbie Findley in the first half for a handball that never touched his hand.
