TNT’s marathon of memorable “Law & Order” episodes marks series finale

By Jeff Pfeifferlaw-and-order

Nonstop episodes of Law & Order on TNT? Sounds like a typical weekend, doesn’t it? In this case, though, the network will be airing some of the series’ most memorable episodes in a special marathon to mark the occasion of it coming to an end after 20 years. In case you haven’t heard, NBC has decided to cancel the flagship show (but to keep Law & Order: SVU and pick up the new spinoff Law & Order: Los Angeles, lamely shortened to LOLA), and Monday, May 24, will be its final episode.

Also on May 24 — and leading up to that final original NBC episode, which airs at 10pm ET —  is when TNT will be sending off the series that has provided it with so many opportunities to fill programming hours with reruns. The 10-hour marathon of notable episodes includes the following (all times listed are ET/PT):

Noon: “Point of View” — the first episode featuring Jerry Orbach’s character, Detective Lennie Briscoe

1pm: “Sanctuary” — favorite episode of Michael Moriarty, who plays ADA Ben Stone

2pm: “Competence” — episode in which Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) is shot

3pm: “Pride” — last regular episode featuring Chris Noth’s character, Detective Mike Logan

4pm: “Terminal” — favorite episode of Sam Waterston, who plays ADA Jack McCoy, and Steven Hill, who plays DA Adam Schiff

5pm: “Gunshow” — first and favorite episode of Jesse L. Martin, who plays Detective Ed Green

6pm: “C.O.D.” — final episode for Jerry Orbach’s Lennie Briscoe

7pm: “Burn Card” — final episode for Jesse L. Martin’s Ed Green

8pm: “Illegal” — fan favorite

9pm: “Zero” — fan favorite, with memorable ending in which Jack McCoy refers to Adam Schiff
