NBC Universal networks combine to present more than 835 hours of TV and Internet coverage from the Vancouver Games. This is also the first Winter Olympics to be broadcast entirely in high definition. The combined TV and Internet coverage is nearly double the amount from the 2006 Torino Games (419 hours) and is more than the Torino and 2002 Salt Lake City Games combined (794.5 hours). Over the 17 days in Vancouver, NBCU’s coverage averages nearly 50 hours per day, and includes coverage of every one of the 15 winter sports.
NBC Coverage begins with the Opening Ceremony on Feb. 12 at 7:30pm ET. NBC’s schedule includes afternoon, prime-time and late-night coverage. Prime-time coverage features figure skating, Alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, speed skating, snowboarding, and short track speed skating. Other events like curling, luge and ski jumping will also get NBC airtime.
USA Network Team USA will be featured on USA Network, with the U.S. men’s and women’s hockey and curling teams extensively covered. Airs six live hockey games and nine curling matches.
CNBC CNBC has over 100 hours of coverage, with long-form curling competitions on most days. CNBC will also have expanded, live long-form coverage of numerous other sports, including ice hockey and biathlon.
MSNBC MSNBC airs 100 hours of Olympic coverage, including more than 30 hockey and curling matches. MSNBC airs the men’s USA vs. Canada game, plus quarterfinal, semifinal and medal round hockey action. Curling coverage includes medal round action. Speed skating and figure skating will also be shown live. MSNBC also airs late-night replays of daytime coverage.
Universal HD Universal HD provides reairs of USA Network’s coverage.
Universal Sports This channel is dedicated to live studio news, highlights, analysis and results each day of the Games. Two daily programs provide highlights and recaps.
