UFC President Dana White — At 39, Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship, is both czar and star of one of the world’s fastest growing sports — mixed martial arts. He is at the epicenter of an enterprise that has moved from spectacle to sport in less than a decade. Mostly, White is outside the box, and at times, out of control. E:60 had unprecedented access to White over a four-month period, following him to UFC events in the United States and Canada. Michael Woods reports.
Bar Brawl In Binghamton — E:60 will look at how a brutal bar brawl on May 4, 2008, between Binghamton (N.Y.) University students, one a foreign basketball player, has become an international incident pitting the United States against Serbia. The fight left senior Bryan Steinhauer in a coma. One of the alleged perpetrators, Miladin Kovacevic, a sophomore Binghamton basketball player, jumped bail and fled to his native Serbia. That started high level talks between the United States and Serbia about extraditing Kovacevic to the U.S. to face trial.
Other features include the state of Delaware’s proposal for legalized sports gambling, and the inspirational story of how Matt Steven, who is blind, plays basketball for a youth organization.
