This Saturday sees the season finale of Saturday Night Live, but the laughs are continuing into prime time the next night, May 17 at 9pm ET, with NBC’s premiere two-hour special Saturday Night Live Just Shorts. Andy Samberg hosts this program that, for the first time, puts together the greatest short films from the series’ past 34 years. The historic special will feature many fan favorites, including “Synchronized Swimmers,” starring Martin Short and Harry Shearer; Robert Smigel’s “TV Funhouse”; and the Emmy-winning digital short “Dick in a Box,” with Justin Timberlake. Also included are “Lazy Sunday,” “Japanese Office,” “United Way” (with Peyton Manning), “MacGruber,” “Star Wars Screen Tests,” “Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey,” “Mr. Bill” and more.
The 2003 film Elf, starring Will Ferrell, has become a holiday classic for many people. So much so that it was also turned into a hit Broadway musical. The story now has a third incarnation, an hourlong NBC special called Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas (Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 8pm ET/PT) which is based on the film and the stage production. 2012 Preakness Stakes TV schedule on NBC and NBC Sports Network. The second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, the 137th Preakness Stakes, takes place Saturday, May 19, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another looks for another win for shot at the Triple Crown, which hasn’t been accomplished since Affirmed won in 1978. The Preakness is being billed as a rematch between I’ll Have Another and Derby runner-up Bodemeister, who led most of the race until I’ll Have Another overtook him.
