Jerry Seinfeld Back At NBC

Iconic comedian Jerry Seinfeld is returning to series television for the first time since his legendary comedy Seinfeld left the air in 1998. This time he will not be starring, but is rather the creator and producer of a new NBC comedy-reality series tentatively titled The Marriage Ref. Where Seinfeld explored the hilarity of single life, this program goes to the next stage by looking at the humor found in relationships and marriage. The show will feature opinionated celebrities, comedians and sports stars who candidly comment on, judge and offer different strategies for real-life couples in the midst of a classic marital dispute.

“This is not a therapy show — it’s a comedy show,” says Seinfeld. “After nine years of marriage I have discovered that the comedic potential of this subject is quite rich.”

Seinfeld is partnering with Ellen Rakieten on the project. Rakieten is a 23-year veteran of The Oprah Winfrey Show and helped shape that daytime dynamo from its inception in 1986.

No word on an air date at this time.
