“24” Day 7, Hour 10: Money Doesn’t Talk, It Screams

By ElaineB
Lesson learned: Never underestimate the corrupting power of greed.

For the last nine hours, I’ve been concentrating on the theme of force vs. law (or torture vs. reason, depending on your perspective). But now 24‘s second theme is emerging and, in these troubled times — in which bankers, stock and real estate brokers and Bernie Madoff destroyed countless lives and the American economy with their greed — it’s likely to be accepted as reasonable by just about everyone that White House and FBI staff can be bought with diamonds. Sadly, the most unbelievable thing in hour 10 was that a woman in a wheelchair could make it to the hospital that quickly.

That being said, most of hour 10 could be summed up as follows:
My gawd, Dubaku really has a thing for that waitress!
Wow, a great way to tail him if you want to get noticed, Jack!
Scratch! Poke! Crash!
Boom!
Meanwhile, back at FBI HQ: Good girl, Erica, kiss, kiss and bang!

Holy action, Batman! A lot happened very quickly last night, including revelations of the depths to which Sean will go for a little terrorist incentive pay, but then many federal agents are notoriously undercompensated. Fortunately, our girl Chloe managed to save the file Sean got girlfriend Erica to dispose of before he disposed of her and Sean was arrested. It appears that many of those bought by Dubaku are about to experience the same fate.

In what could be the end of Day 7, Bill reminds the president that she has Jack to thank for her life, Henry’s rescue and her invasion going as scheduled. She considers this and calls Sen. Mayer, who has been particularly hard on Jack in the hearings, and asks him to stop by. It will be a bad day to take a meeting at the White House, especially since Mayer asks his assistant Ryan Burnett to join him and the younger man is at the center of the plot.

But wait! There’s more! Of course there’s more, since there are 14 more hours to go and we have not even touched on what greedy arms dealer Jonas Hodges is really up to and the fate of poor Henry and why nice President Taylor has so many issues with rebellious-yet-successful daughter Olivia.
