“ANTM” Casting Call Reaches For New Heights

By RabbitEars

After 12 cycles of seeking supermodel wannabes with a minimum height requirement of 5’7″ — the industry standard — Tyra Banks and America’s Next Top Model are setting their sights lower for Cycle 13. The series, which begins open casting calls for its next installment this Saturday, is now looking only for women who are 5’7″ or under.

“There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands,” says Banks, “like fashion icon Kate Moss. So we are changing up Top Model for Cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model.”

It isn’t quite a year for the older model, however — the age requirement is still 18-27. The show will continue looking for women of diverse backgrounds, shapes and sizes.

  2. I just found you guys site, my cousine Autumn is so beautiful, I want you to see her, im am so very sorry we missed the casting call, but she is gorgious and and have personalitly of an angel. Is there any way I can seen you some shots of her, I promise you will not be disappointed

  3. I just want to let all of the beautiful short women out there who are thinking of auditioning for ANTM cycle 13…DON’T….unless you are 5’5 and up!!! I am saying this b/c I went to the DC auditions and it was a disaster!!!! No one knew what was going on, the line took 4-8 hrs to get through, you may or may not see Tyra and her panel face to face it might be via camera, and they are taking girls that are well over 5’7. There were 2,000 girls there and the ANTM crew had no clue how to handle it! Auditions started at 10am and were scheduled to end at 3. The crew decided to stay so all of the girls who got there by 3pm could be seen. I got there at 11 and had to wait in line until 7:30 (which I was expecting)…but the casting crew just assumed all of us who were still in line got there at the last moment. Here is how it goes…Normally you will go in a group of about 25 or more in front of Tyra and crew and say your name, age, height, and weight they will tell you if you should stay and they dismiss the rest (many groups have all of the girls dismissed). We did not have the privilege of seeing the panel face to face…they saw us via camera. Myself and 300+ girls were rushed into a conference room with chairs and had a camera shoved in our face for 5 seconds. Tyra and her panel were in another room watching, at least that’s what they lead us to believe. They only saw our chest and up if that at all. Out of the 300+ girls they may be kept a total of 10. Out of those ten girls I don’t think one of them was 5’5 or shorter. A few girls got to stay who were well over 5’7, that is what made me mad. Maybe they are going to have a sortie on the show and they didn’t find 1 of the 12 out of the 2,000 girls that showed up at the DC casting, or maybe then are going to have to throw some 5’1 or 5’2 girls (or shorter) in there when they see how mad people are. If you have any doubts I would say do not waste your time. It was a good experience but it is something I would not do over if I was given the chance. I am not mad b/c I did not get picked I have dealt with rejection from far bigger castings then this one, this was for fun…I am mad because they let so many people think that they were looking for short short girls. Drop dead gorgeous girls and the ANTM type of girl came out of the room mad and some crying b/c they were too short (5’0-4) for this casting. If they have a midget casting then us short girls should go to that. If they decided to prescreen and let people know that they should go home b/c they are not right for this casting it would of moved the process along a lot quicker. If you are fine waiting in line for 8 hours then go and hold your head high and show then what you have, but if not do not even waste your time! Oh and if they want to do a short model they should do more print work and not make it so runway based so the true shortie has a good chance. i think they gave up hope of discovering any big next talent…men will have the next turn on ANTM!!!
