A&E Can Touch This: “Hammertime” Is Coming To Prime Time

By ButtonKnows

Time to dig your shiny harem pants out of the rummage pile and resurrect your stripey fade, my fellow post-Boomers!

Because there ain’t no reality show star like a past-his-prime rap star with a brand new gig (especially one who’s too legit to quit), A&E is at work on a docu-series following the life of “U Can’t Touch This” artist Stanley “MC Hammer” Burrell, Mrs. Burrell and their family of seven, scheduled to air later this year.

“Hammertime” will feature 11 half-hour episodes that lay bare the life of Hammer, who rapped and danced his way into the hearts — and onto the dance floors — of America in the ’90s, then saw his music career felled by embarrassingly public financial woes.

Hammer’s now a hands-on, housecleaning dad to his kids, age 3-21,  and a wildly busy entrepreneur with a new online web site “Dance Jam,” a HAMMERTIME iPhone application and a “social media optimized” music label called FullBlast.

“Each week we’ll open our home to viewers to showcase the hectic pace of our lives and our eclectic family,” says Hammer, who also executive produces the show. “Our real life truly is drama, and there is no better place than A&E for some Hammertime.”

So now you know — we talkin’ about the Hammer and we talkin’ about his show.
