“Girl Next Door” In A New Neighborhood

Former Hugh Hefner girlfriend and co-star of E!’s The Girls Next Door Kendra Wilkinson is starring in her own TV series, E! announced today.

In the new series tentatively titled Kendra, the buxom blond leaves behind the luxury of the Playboy Mansion to plan her wedding to mediocre Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett. It’s another fish-out-of-water story with a formerly pampered star having to adjust to day-to-day duties like laundry, paying bills, etc., without the benefit of a secretary and 24-7 room service. Sort of a model’s version of Survivorman.

Kendra’s family is supposedly “understandably anxious” about her ability to live on her own for some reason, even though she’s a 23-year-old woman whom you would think can figure out a few basics. But she does also still have to focus on squeezing in fun, of course. And hassle Eagles coaches again about including her sweetie in their passing attack more often.

Whether the bombshell is indeed as dense as she appears and truly can’t handle chores, or if it’s an act, remains to be seen. But it may not be seen for long. Like E!’s similar — and failed — Anna Nicole Smith reality show from a few years back, the eye candy of Kendra may only go so far in keeping viewers tuned in.

And what of broken-hearted Hef? Never fear — he has recovered nicely, picking up three more girlfriends (including 19-year-old twins) who will feature in the return of The Girls Next Door this fall.
