The Office: Customer Survey

Synopsis: The results of the annual customer survey are in and, surprisingly, both Jim and Dwight have performed badly. Dwight suspects sabotage and, for once, his paranoia is justified. It seems Kelly falsified the negative responses to get back at Jim and Dwight for blowing off her America’s Got Talent season finale party. She gets caught but keeps her job because of Michael’s empathy for her situation. He has a really hard time getting people to come to his parties and he’s got the leftover guacamole to prove it. Through all of this, Jim communicates with Pam via the world’s tiniest Bluetooth — which also allows him to hear Pam’s school chum Alex (played by Mad Men‘s Rich Sommer) try to convince her to stay in New York to become an artist. And by “an artist,” we assume he means “his girlfriend.”

In a somewhat amusing subplot, Andy tries to convince Angela that they should hire an acclaimed “tentist” for their wedding. She balks at the idea at first, but eventually relents — as long as the wedding can be held at a certain local farm. Andy excitedly agrees, failing to grasp the significance of the fact that he has just ensured that his fiancée will be spending all of her time with Dwight in the time leading up to their wedding.

Mike says

Best Moment: Dwight using “Centerfold” by the J. Geils Band to drown out his conversation with Jim, in case someone was listening in.

Best Quote: “That’s what she said! That’s what she said! That’s what she said!” — Pam, in response to hearing Kelly tell Dwight to get out of her nook.

Employee of the Week: William M. Buttlicker, fictional paper buyer. His family built this country.

Ryan says

Best Moment: Kelly’s America’s Got Talent finale party over the summer. We can only imagine how awesome that was.

Best Quote: “Sort of a Kapoor’s List. Schindler’s List parody. … That’s not appropriate.” — Michael, on Kelly’s customer survey reports

Employee of the Week: Ryan. He’s living in the moment. He doesn’t play the politics game anymore. He played it full-on in New York. He played it high stakes. For keeps. Made it to the top. But look what it cost.

Best Moment: The scene which earned Buttlicker the Employee of the Week from Mike.  Anytime you hear Dwight shout, “Buttlicker, our prices have never been lower!” with a straight face, you’re witnessing comedy gold.

Best Quote: “What color mustard is his shirt?  Yellow or Dijon?” — Even in New York, Pam knows exactly what Dwight is wearing, except for its shade.

Employee of the Week: Jim.  He brought Buttlicker to life, fought side-by-side with Dwight to unravel an office conspiracy, and had to silently witness a Junior Jim try to steal his fiance.
