Showtime and Strikeforce … Fight! … Nice!

If you’re like me and believe that there can never really be too much MMA on TV, especially as pro wrestling struggles to hold my attention (OK, yes, we’ve been broken up for a while), you may want to make sure that Showtime subscription is all paid up.

Ken Hershman, Senior Vice President and GM of Sports and Event Programming for Showtime Networks and Scott Coker, founder and CEO of MMA event producer Strikeforce announced today that they will reunite to create an all-new franchise of mixed martial arts programming to air on the premium network.

The multi-year agreement calls for Showtime Sports to produce and televise up to 16 live events each year, including Strikeforce world championship match-ups and — attention The Ultimate Fighter fans — a new series dedicated to spotlighting up and coming talent.

The inaugural championship event will debut April 11 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, with a fight card announced at a later date.

Showtime and Strikeforce previously teamed up for their successful 2007 pay-per-view event in which former UFC champ Frank Shamrock defeated Phil Baroni.

    And your final question:

Name the THREE Horsemen! And this is a trick question because you actually kind of win if you can’t, as well!
